I for one envy our bright LED neighbors to the north. Houston needs a little flash. How cool would Heritage Plaza's Mayan Pyramid look if they re-did the lights ala the Dallas Omni.
Dallas is too flashy, suits them but its not Houston. We're more chill lol

Im not a fan so far of this project, hoping the crown changes my mind. If it lights up extra points, we need more lights in our downtown. (but nothing like Dallas yuck)

This angle of downtown alway belies just how dense it really is. The location of the tallest towers at the northwestern edge obscure all the shorter buildings immediately behind them. It's amazing to me how different our downtown looks from the north, and south and east!
Honestly hate this view, my least favorite in the city. Not sure why people are so in love with it.
The view from 45N, 288/59 interchange and I10E are the best imo

I see the darker glass that was mentioned. Maybe they liked the look of the glass on the new tower in Uptown.
I like the contrast tbh between darker and lighter towers

I wonder if this will be the 'Heritage Plaza' of today's times--as in the last major office skyscraper downtown for the forseeable future. With the pandemic and so many people working from home, it seems things may 'never' go back to normal and many people will continue working from home. It was a forced experiment that seems to have worked in that people working from their living rooms are equally, if not more, productive than when at the office. Translation: no need for abundant office space.
I'm only talking office skyscrapers, not condo or apartment towers.
Highly doubt it. My company is having everyone come back to office 500+ employees.
Working from home while nice is less productive than office work.
Trust me haha so many distractions

Coming into the city from the Bryan-College Station area (29 to the west loop), it never fails, someone in my family or a friend that I'm riding with will always say "Wow look at downtown (referring to Uptown). It never fails. I would prefer them call it the Galleria instead of Downtown. I always point over to the East (direction of downtown) while its still visible from the freeway and tell them "That is downtown."
My family from Dallas don't travel to Houston often and to be fair they moved to Texas from California. They came in once and we went to a restaurant in the River Oaks area and they were telling us how they liked downtown Houston (we passed by Uptown not DT). I told them yeah that's not even downtown, I took them to downtown and they just said why do you need so many buildings! Dallas has nothing like this.

You can see the structure starting to pop its head out when coming down 45N, can't wait to see what the view looks like in 6-8 months

This is awesome!! 48 stories is probably the max they can go for in Midtown though so don't expect a 50+ building mostly because Midtown is directly under the Arrival Procedure for Hobby RWY 13R and it is the most used runway at HOU. That's the only reason i think midtown will never have a supertall building, FAA won't allow it.

Wow, 48 stories ! That's as tall as any of the new buildings that have been completed in central downtown in the past 5 years or so. Hope it sparks a super-tall trend...maybe...
While a super tall would be nice, I want all these lots filled with 20-30 story high rises to give the whole area a more urban filling.
THEN SMACK IN A SUPERTALL!! lol
