Where does the bike trail go - does it connect to the section by Studemont/I-10 ?
Yes it does. Here is a map of the extension:

did the water come over the bridge last week?
the long time given to replace the bridge makes me think they will replace the pylons, but the low price makes me think they won't.
Nope, was about a foot below it.

Well it's closed now, and traffic as expected, is pretty horrendous in this area. Hopefully as the months roll on and people alter their routes it will subside. I need to head over to Heights/Koehler and see if they put in any type of traffic control since there isn't a permanent light there.

I was referring to this image, which if produced to the rendering, would be an improvement in my opinion. It's too bad they don't have the ability/rights to push it to the street front of Washington and just have retail on Washington as well.
-
Assuming it looks like the rendering I'm happy with anything that enhances curb appeal on washington. It is the quintessential Houston hodge podge.
-
Me too...was just at Kroger imagining how great it would be if the stacked retail became a reality there.

Been meaning to post this and didn't find another thread on these. Not sure if the project is still a go, but I do like the idea of purchasable lofts in a reasonable price range for the area. I imagine the current economic climate along with the glut of MF housing popping up in the neighborhood might stall this one out. They are building out the single family homes on the backside of this lot though.

Doubtful the supporting structure could tolerate that kind of stress. The 18 month timeline seems long. It's a fairly basic and relatively short bridge.
-
Sign has gone up, this area is going to be a nightmare during peak times.

Yes, in the Yale Street Bridge thread

Heard from a neighbor that works with West End Civic club, and was working to get a traffic study done prior to this project's kick off, that it is slated to start April 18.

If the LA fitness tent guys are telling it, last may, august, december etc...
I live nearby and have given up on trying to figure out that timeline. I'm more concerned with the replacement of the yale bridge. Going to be a nightmare. Just in time for them to open up the additional bike trail along white oak.

Hopefully no where nearby...

I stand corrected. The source i reviewed apparently was not updated, SHEPHERD STORAGE LP apparently owns that parcel now, which would fall in line with the signage for storage units. I am glad that it will be redeveloped, has long been a "hang out".

Just hearsay in some circles.
The bit about Turner was just a note about his recent comments relative to rail. A commuter line down 10 would seem to fit his thoughts.
-
Still talks (TXDOT/TCR) going on about putting in a commuter line from terminus to Downtown down the I-10 corridor. Express service to downtown only.
On a somewhat related note, Mayor Turner called for more focus on intercity and regional rail (amongst other things) at the latest Texas Transportation Commission.

They did reconfigure the bike path crossing which could indicate some impending construction work. The path now crosses slightly south of the lot for Mercantile.

Too bad Party Boy isn't on the demo list...

I haven't seen any signage posted yet indicating an imminent closure, so I'd say it's safe to assume that it will still be open on Thursday. IIRC, they were going to start the rebuilding project sometime in February.
Where did you see a Feb start? I had only seen references to EOY. They did recently do some utility pole work that removed an old structure close to the bridge. I live very close and will be considerably impacted by the closure.

Happy to see more change happening in this area, seems to be a flurry of late.
