That area definitely needs a grocery store. Thats one of the biggest reasons I decided not to buy in Eado. Im in midtown and am within a quick drive from three Krogers, Heb, Randalls, Whole Foods, Phoenicia, Walmart, Target, Trader Joes, Sprouts, and Fiesta. There's a Fiesta and a crappy little Kroger on the east side, thats it...

I can only assume there would have to be more than one incident to shut down a hospital. Maybe it will be bought out by Memorial Hermann... I dont think it would be wise to close our only hospital in downtown.

It will take a lot of development around this building to make it worthwhile. If i were going to live in a place like this, i would want to be able to walk to restaurants, bars, a grocery store, shops, etc... There's really nothing out here. Im well aware that this will change, but why not build this in prime location.

I cant find any info on this new Sheraton...

Agreed! That would be a perfect location for this. Id rather see the old Days In demolished though.

I think this would do much better in downtown. This needs to be in a walkable area with mass transit.

This is a pretty interesting project! Should really spur some development along Tuam as well. Maybe something will finally happen to Late Night Pie. This should also add some value to the new Farb apartments about to be built on Fairview and Montrose.

Demolish! I would like to see downtown start moving into midtown.

This block will not change until Greyhound is either improved or relocated. 3rd and 5th Wards are not our focus here.
Yeah I was about to say that as well... and besides that, so much focus is on one damn block yet we got half of the 3rd Ward, 5th Ward, and other areas that aren't getting any better and I don't see the public outcry there. My point is that this is one block that seems to stand out in Midtown, but sooner or later it will change and clean up as the city grows and gentrifies, everyone chill out already.

Im excited about a cigar bar, but not so much with the design. Nothing could beat the atmosphere of Downing Street. They cannot sell alcohol correct?

There's obvious problems with the current station. I've never been inside, but I can only assume there are no waiting areas. There's way too many people sleeping outside of the building, getting into fights, harassing people walking by, etc. There's nothing wrong with taking the Greyhound, its a great way to travel, but this station needs to be cleaned up or moved out.

Are the Greyhound or El Expreso bus stations ever going to move out of midtown/downtown? I realize its conveniently located near the downtown bus terminal, but now that the bus routes are not so centered around the downtown station, I dont see why it couldnt find a new home. Maybe closer to Amtrack or northeast of downtown?

I would like to see more residential high rises like this in midtown.

Thats great news! Finally something gets done with the old Holiday Inn/Days Inn/Heaven on Earth building.
Totally agree! That building creeps me out. They would be better off imploding it.

I wonder whats going to happen with the property across taft from this lot, behind the laundry mat. (old hamburger joint or taqueria) I would love to see that torn down. Looks sketchy as hell.

Too bad its right near the 2 bus stations. Id love to see those stations move somewhere else.

Im skeptical about the boat ramps near downtown into the bayou. I believe those are more kayak launches than anything else.
-
I've been wanting to take my boat in the bayou for a while. I never knew where to launch. Any one know?

Haha didnt take long for someone to throw out GFR

1. What do you have against gates? Its an extra level of security that makes people feel more comfortable.
2. Its a garage level... its functional
3. Yes...and?
4. Very subjective, obviously the people that bought them, like their appearance.
I think these look great, I would like to see more places like this in midtown.
