I noticed that Mama's Grocery in the 4th ward has been sold! Also, the next lot over is for sale. This should really clean up Robin street, between Bailey and wilson.

UGH, build this somewhere else.

I wouldnt be sad to see all of those auto shops on fairview close. The blue one looks like a junk factory. I would never trust my car there.

Don't Midtown my Montrose!
I hope that area keeps all the things that make it great the antique shops, bike shop, etc. I'd hate to see it just become more "trendy chains" Steel City Pops and Shake Shack.
Its almost too late for that. However, ive lived close by here for a while and never had an interest in visiting an antique shop...

The drawings include the antique stores. Im sure rents will increase, i dont see how they could stay in business.

Does that phenonemon really happen? Do large developments really spur smaller ones?
is that a serious question?

Should help spur some more development in the immediate area.

I have found them to be more trouble than they're worth. If you're with a few people and you're only making one short trip, uber is a much better alternative. It costs $5 for each bike, or you an do an uber, with a minimum charge of about $6. I rented one a while back to take up to the art car parade. We spent more time trying to find a check in station so we wouldnt get charged extra than we did watching the parade.

both the viking place, and the Indian/Tex sound intriguing!!!
I wonder if we're looking at typical Scandinavian food, or what?
I don't even know what to expect from an Indian/Tex place, I'll try anything once!
Cowboys and Indians has a sample menu posted on their facebook. It looks good! Also a meet and greet with the owners, monday 10/31

I love all the retail, especially since Camden decided not to include any in their development.

I wonder how long it will be until new construction starts.

my drive to work turns off la branch onto elgin street. There's those new townhouses and the mustard seed resale shop. Across from the shop, there's a vacant lot with concrete. I've noticed a couple drilling trucks there over the last week or 2. Looked up the address and it's owned by Kalan properties.
Any ideas....?
Not sure, im assuming they're taking core samples. I drive past there every day as well. It would be a great location for a cafe. I feel that area has so much residential and is pretty under served. I dont know of any coffee/sandwich shops within walking distance of Baldwin park.

Weird concept. Should we take bets on if it will last longer than Barbell?
The fencing has been taken down in front of Barbell, Maybe we will see something new soon.
I just don't like themed restaurant/bars... I mean, Vikings, really? Maybe im just sad that Byzantio closed.
-
haha yea, the sign mentioned a mix of mexican and indian cuisine.
-
Also noticed a new sign up at Byzantio. Its called Ship and Shield. It will be a viking themed restaurant and bar...

Juan Mon's on taft changed their sign to Cowboys and Indians. Not sure if its the same owners.
-
totally agree, As of now, fairview is very dangerous to ride your bike on.

For about a week now. Must be to keep all the homeless from sleeping on that side walk and leaving their garbage everywhere.

Yea the store line up is awful, aside from Academy. I used to travel the country for work and it would kill me that every town looked the exact same with all of these same stores.
