  1. Bad calls happen all the time in the NFL for numerous teams. One went for us against Detroit. One went against us in GB. Its just the way it is.
  2. JAN 7 2015 Trammell Crow bidg some nice towers next to Klyde Warren. They look nice. The previous renderings for them were really sexy but supposedly those designs would have caused more "towering infernos" like the Museum Tower. These designs looking good though. With the Azure, Blue Ciel and this TC residential tower all over 30 stories its good to see Uptown finally get some height! Now if we could only get a 600footer in the middle of Uptown to top it off. http://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/news/2015/01/07/trammell-crow-co-metlife-unveil-luxury-towers-next.html The 19-story Park District Tower will sit on Pearl Street with about 502,000 square feet of Class A office space and 9,000 square feet of retail at the base of the tower. The development group plans to build multiple outdoor terraces, a fitness facility, a full conference facility with meeting rooms and a grand lobby with hotel-like space for informal meetings. Trammell Crow Co.'s residential subsidiary, High Street Residential, will develop the 32-story Residences at Park District, which will sit on Olive Street. The tower will total about 255 residential homes with 13,000 square feet of retail space fronting Klyde Warren Park. The residents will have access to an amenity deck and pool overlooking Klyde Warren Park and the downtown skyline. The tower will also have a fitness center, valet and concierge services. Construction is expected to start on the towers this year.
  3. Yea I like that one too.I believe that's the Azure. The Bleu Ciel is supposed the have the same amount ot stories yes sit slightly taller than it. (??) I heard the BC is on slightly more elevated ground.
  4. Close up images of the Bleu Ciel construction site with Frost Tower in the background.
  5. Hmm, sorry to say Im not sure about that. I know there are parks in that area. Maybe a mixture of both. Whatever it is Im sure it can be developed though people down there want to keep plenty of parks.
  6. Nice recent photo that shows the construction of the Frost Tower on the rightish (Nov.'14) Already looks good can't wait to see how the Blue Ciel will add to it. https://www.flickr.com/photos/paramarphoto/15277321324/
  7. As already stated here The Bleu Ciel breaks ground on Dec.8! I will try to be there to take pics and post here.(maybe) *Does the Bleu Ciel dance to celebrate* Anyways here's a nice BC vimeo video for eye candy. How do you embed video in this place anyways? Enjoy http://vimeo.com/108524243
  8. I like that design. Its kinda retro 80's with updated treatment. Cool stuff.
  9. Im sure he'll build something someday but I just never put much merit in the proposal for these towers. I'll only trust the big names.
  10. The video is super chessy. I just dont like it when a vid shows fast moving clouds and flowers more than the dang building. LOL Yea, I think Ive seen this design somewhere on another forum. Looks great. Hope it gets built. Lots of proposals out there.
  11. Well, well, hello HINES..Thought this project was dead.... Looks like this one might actually be a GO... YaY! Only 23 stories but gorgeous. Thanks for coming up here and showing Dallas how to get it done! 11-10-14 http://bizbeatblog.dallasnews.com/2014/11/hines-cousins-team-up-on-new-victory-park-office-tower.html/ Houston-based developer Hines is teaming up with Cousins Properties Inc. to break ground next year on a 23-story office tower in Dallas’ Victory Park project. The 466,000-square-foot glass high-rise will be the largest office project in the 75-acre development on the northwest corner of downtown Dallas. The new tower called Victory Center – designed by Duda/Paine Architects – would open in 2017 on Houston Street southwest of the American Airlines Center arena. “It’s a 23-month construction period,” said Hines’ Heath Johnson, who heads the company’s Dallas development operations. “When you look at how well the other projects in the area have done, there is definitely room to grow in this market.” Hines said its One Victory Park tower, which is located next door to the new office building site, is more than 90 percent leased. That building opened in 2008 and is 17 stories. Several other new office buildings now going up in Dallas’ Uptown district and downtown are substantially leased.
  12. Cities like former US territory Manila have built more 100m+ structures in the last decade than Texan cities have since 1836. Cheap labor.
  13. /So no twin 70 story residential towers?/ I dont know. Seems like its still up in the air. Now that I think about it I guess those could be supertalls too. They'll probably narrow it down to one. Demand for dwntwn residences has been decent in the past few months though. Leases are up apparently. /Yeah, the Ross Perot site has the most potential. I'll just be bummed to see it block Fountain Place/ Never though about that. Hopefully it wont block too many angles. Agreed that is a signature building. Actually saw it in commercial today for a railroad company. National commercial too. Pretty cool
  14. This is the latest thing I could find on that: 8-8-14 http://cityhallblog.dallasnews.com/2014/08/after-may-stalemate-over-fate-of-pacific-plaza-dallas-park-board-will-ask-developers-for-proposals.html/ Of the two existing proposals, following Shawn Todd’s withdrawal of his $100-million proposal earlier this week, only one, from former council member Ron Natinsky and 4P Partners, has below-ground parking — specifically, an automated parking garage. Mukemmel “Mike” Sarimsakci’s ambitious $600-million proposal features a number of structures on the proposed park, including two residential skyscrapers at least 70 stories tall. Park idea and the towers sound great but that underground Japan-like automated parking garage sounds maybe a tad too ambitious and expensive probably holding the process back. Just forget the garage(make an overground). It's really kinda frustrating having to wait so long when it comes to projects like these. Though for me the project I'm most excited about is the potential supertall Ross Perot Jr. is planning. At least with that one the developer has already been chosen though it will probably take awhile for the design. I know Ben Crawford and HOK are working hard on it as we type!
  15. Hines Victory Park 23 floors Last updated in April. Not sure of the status but I really like the look of this bldg.. We need more Hines bldgs here! http://www.dallasnews.com/business/commercial-real-estate/headlines/20140331-victory-park-project-sets-a-new-style-for-downtown-dallas.ece
  16. I've noticed this too. First of all I come to HAIF because I like the format and the way it looks and also because I like Houston architecture as well. Why not join a site of your Texas bigger brother to bounce architectural ideas off of? I would'nt go and join an Atlanta or Philly forum obviously. Im sure other Texas cities have sites but why not join the biggest? I haven't come here to bash H-Town at all. I reserve my trolling for other sites. I also think for the most part most of the Houstonians on here have been cool. There is nothing wrong constructive critique either and most have offered it without bashing. I do think the reason some Houstonians still see a rivalry with Dallas is that we were *cough(still are)*cough** the 2nd largest city for so long. And face it as far as high-rise development we are its closest rival in Texas. Do you never hear Houstonians bashing SA? I dont.. Haha. Oh by the way. How bout dem Cowboys??
  17. Great pics. Are those areas part of Houston proper?(within city limits) If not what suburbs?
  18. 91 Million vs 180 million. Yea that is a huge ripoff. Might have been better going with TxDot.......But hey don't worry about offending Dallasites. We're not the ones choosing the designer. Wish we could get some money back on that! And yes it IS a copy of an Italian bridge, same designer. They were very open about that. No controversy there. (except for the money spent)
  19. HAHA! Watching the newscast now. The patient is at the same hospital I was born at....And if they let me out then I worry for our country. lol / It's too much for a river that is so small/ This and possible solutions have already been addressed in previous replies.
  20. Its going to be a crazy puzzle to figure out. Instead of trying too hard with all of this why couldnt they just put up a dam south of downtown? A dam that would control water flow to prevent flooding? That way we'll always have a nice thick river for recreation. Of course people traveling by kayak/boat would have to go around the dam to go south on the Trinity?
  21. Like I said I havent been keeping up with the specifics. Yes only the smaller plans have been approved but from my understanding is that they will continue to fight to make it as big as possible. It's an evolutionary process and the plans can change anytime. Here's to hoping they will continue the fight. I dont care about the 300 acres now. I just want some nice water in the downtown area. The other areas of the river down and up can do whatever.
  22. I definitely understand people saying the bridge is an overstatement. Many say it looks silly over our "little creek" But keep in minding that little creek SWELLS to fill up to the levy during rain. Giving us a wide river. However as you might know there are plans to turn that area into small lakes so the bridge will have something beautiful to cross over. They want to make it for public recreation like what Austin has. I personally cant wait to see that. One has been approved. I haven't been keeping up with specifics. In other words it won't be a little creek forever. The city was looking way into the future with the bridge. It will look better with lots of water consistently under it.
