  1. Check out my Rolex y'all! http://bizbeatblog.dallasnews.com/2015/08/construction-starts-next-week-on-new-rolex-building-in-uptown.html/
  2. Wow! http://bizbeatblog.dallasnews.com/2015/07/dallas-area-led-u-s-metro-small-business-job-growth-in-june.html/ Look at Detroit! Good for them.
  3. Say What? Sales of condominiums slowed across the state in the first five months of 2015. But that wasn’t true in the Dallas area, where purchases of condos rose 3 percent from 2014. Sales of condos dropped in Houston and Austin. http://bizbeatblog.dallasnews.com/2015/07/dallas-condo-market-bucks-statewide-trends-with-sales-increase.html/
  4. Here's an interesting summation of all this Houston/Dallas friction. At the top of each city page here on HAIF there is a message: [sic] San Antonio: Texas' 2nd largest city known for the Alamo and Riverwalk Austin: State Capital, hippie haven, College town. Lots of things to lots of people And then there's........ DFW(Dallas):My-city-is-better-than-your-city flame wars are not permitted on HAIF. "He started it" is not a valid excuse. Both parties in a flame war may have their accounts suspended or terminated. Just walk away. Flames will be deleted without notice. Please report violations to a member of the moderating team, or to the Editor.....so you betta keep yo mouth shut!!!!!! [animated IMDB laugh icon] Pretty much sums it up. LOL Im Dallas born and loves Houston..overwise I wouldnt post on here
  5. The lack of a grid can be very annoying. Too many one way streets have hurt downtown a little but I heard they were trying to get rid of all the one-ways. The funky street layout however gives the CBD its cool, unique look. Like a giant stonehenge.
  6. It will be nice Mr. Onion. Supposedly first tower should begin by years end. Was 20 stories..now Beck is pushing it to 26 stories to match the Galleria towers already there. developed by Hines...Thanks Houston! Here is a video showing the area of construction. Three of the taller Hines bldgs are between 25 to 27 stories.(Though their high roof heights make them sit like 27 to 30 stories) I briefly worked in the Galleria 2 tower which is 26 (The middle one) The black bldg in the background is the Onyx at around 25. Not sure who built it. You will see my comments on there. Pretty vid..and shows the beginning of the "platinum corrior" heading north on the DNT.check it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvoAtib8I-g Interestingly enough Preston Tower is actually 29 stories in that area! I had no idea. These bldgs have been around my whole life and I havent appreciated them until recently. Yea that Pre-Approved 27 story would have been dope next to this! Oh well..
  7. RISE MIDTOWN! (GALLERIA) Time for us to have some multiple skyline fun too:p http://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/blog/morning_call/2015/06/scott-beck-looks-to-lure-corporate-tenants-with-2.html
  8. I believe so but there are "windows" that have higher limits. ie Cityplace....where supposedly they eventually want to build the matching tower like originally planned. Also I think the Design district, west of Uptown may be a future candidate for some taller structures. However with all of this I believe South Dallas would a prime spot for true height. Far away from Love field. ....Someday... Eventually the southside will be the future.
  9. Not counting Cityplace. I believe its the W hotel. Another 30+ I forgot to mention. CP is 42stories BTW
  10. 28 story Katy station has been changed to 30 stories. http://bizbeatblog.dallasnews.com/2015/06/planned-victory-park-tower-will-have-more-than-400-apartments-in-30-stories.html/ Along with the 33story Bleu Ciel, and 32story Met life its good to see Uptown get some height. (not to mention the 32 story Azure already there)
  11. No. I want black tiger stripes on this thing! Dmmit!
  12. Good design. Just wished it was bolder and weirder. Downtown is known for some funky designs. We need another one. I wish they'd incorporate some black glass somehow. This is a little bland. We need some Moscow CBD influence.
  13. Its probably not right to compare Hines to Hillwood. Perot's Hillwod company is a much younger(possibly smaller) founded in early 90's but he has a large portfolio. And yes there are International projects...http://www.hillwood.com/ Hines was founded way back in 1957. Give Hillwood some time. They'll do great things. I believe the Dallas equivalent to Hines would be Trammell Crow.
  14. Im not one to ask since Im just regular folk.....but given all the success DFW and Texas as a whole are having right now I'm going to say this has a good chance.
  15. Okay, okay. Cute cat by the way. But mine is cuter!!!!! LOL J/K I'll have to put Pixiecat's face as my avatar someday.
  16. It also has a slight Devon Tower look to it. I dont think OKC residents would be very happy if this thing reaches 851ft.
  17. Wholly crap...Another render! Possibly taller???
  18. Lol. This is why I love HAIF. Nativehoustonion seems to like to crack on Dallas a lot haha One question: Who will be the one to tell him his username is spelled wrong? I won't. Maybe one of y'all natives? I do love Onions though...
  19. I counted the bottom lobby as 3 floors. Im including the crown in the 50. Even if they arent full floors. They should be usable space.
  20. "Ctrl+c >Hines 609 Main" "Ctrl+v >Dallas" ERROR >copy 50% complete . Yes Im agreeing with you. You know we like to copy our big brother lol.. It looks to be the same size as 609 main too(48 stories)... I count around 50 stories for our version of it. The design is growing on me but needs more height! Looks about 700-710ft judging against the 720ft fountain place in the background. While not a supertall it will add welcomed girth to the CBD. Remember this is just a preliminary design. "Hillwood is holding an architectural competition for the design for the office tower it wants to build on Woodall Rodgers. The tower could be as small as a half million square feet or more than 50 stories depending on what a company wanted for offices, Reese said. If the building is constructed it would be the first true skyscraper downtown since the 1980s." If he could squeeze another 150ft out of this I'd be happy(but not satisfied) Because our skyline isn't hugely tall an 850footer would look absolutely killer. Remember the Comerica is only 787ft but looks like a 900ftr against the rest of the buildings. A new building taller than 787ft would look awesome. Cant wait to see what happens. And he sure as hell better not go smaller.
  21. dch526 via skyscrapercity: 25 story SkyHouse #2's height has been approved through the FAA Looks like it should start construction in August Determination PDF Determined Cases for TX: Form 7460-1 for ASN 2015-ASW-2514-OE Quote: Work Schedule: 08/11/2015 to 11/30/2016 Quote: Structure Height: 290 Quote: Description of Location: Building located at NE corner of North Houston Street and Payne Street in Downtown Dallas, TX Description of Proposal: 25 story High-rise residential rental apartment building with 336 units and ground level retail space. 22. Apologies Lospringer. It's just that Im used to some of that friction on here(by some but not all) Your info is interesting. Thanks,
  23. Excellent post fkp5. Saw that on SSC too. Almost was gonna post it myself. There's been lots D-Town development but I haven't been keeping up that much lately. Oh and congrats on Austin's new Jenga Tower! My first thought upon seeing the render was City of Capitals buildings in Moscow.
  24. Okay. I can see where you're going with this. You don't want Dallas to have a supertall.......no matter what. We get it. Personally, I'm so proud of what the city is looking like today 4/15/2015. Cranes up. Healthy amount of Highrises and other development going up.....just look at the above poster's maps and photos......that even if the Perot Tower is a 700 footer with a baddass design it WILL change the skyline and look gorgeous. The CBD will gain that thickness. I can't wait for it. Even if it's a 700 footer! ....But the truth is is that we do not know what the final design will be. We can only speculate.
  25. Developers, especially in Texas, love big floor plates which doesn't help with height. This site that Perot owns is also zoned for an excess of 1.5M SF Fixed it for ya. http://www.dallasnews.com/business/commercial-real-estate/headlines/20131106-perot-buys-downtown-dallas-corner-hints-at-grand-plans.ece
