  1. Looks like the wheels are turning on the Trammell Crow Met Life Park District towers on 2101 Pearl St. They are the purple jello cube in that Uptown photo I posted. The permits have been filed and the tallest is now 34 stories not 32. Edit: I believe this will make an impact on the skyline and help transition height of downtown into uptown. http://bizbeatblog.dallasnews.com/2015/10/trammell-crow-files-permits-for-klyde-warren-park-tower-project.html/
  2. Well I thought it was better than calling you kitty which some people do on here. Okay I'll call you Native. In other news James Franco, JJ Abrams and Stephen King have been tying up traffic downtown: http://frontrow.dmagazine.com/2015/10/james-franco-is-in-dallas-to-save-jfk-make-traffic-terrible/
  3. Not sure I think early 80's Heres more on it. http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=153431 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houston_Tower If you think that's big check this one out in Tokyo!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Seed_4000
  4. Thank you Mr Onion.. For bringing me that info so I dont have to go looking for it. You are the best friend ever! Did you know about the original Houston Tower? Found it on Wiki. Houston Tower General information Status Never built Location Houston, Texas Cost USD 1.5 billion Height Roof 6,864 ft (2,092 m) Technical details Floor count 500 Pretty insane uh? You could probably see it from Mars. On the building youre talking about: I hope they build it. Really like that design too!
  5. For those of you who havent seen it: Fantastic color video of classic, bustling, 1939 downtown Dallas. Very interesting and impressive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fO9J91V_ETE
  6. Lol. I've heard that before but Im not so sure about it. Okay. Well then I guess if D-Uptown keeps building it will overtake D-downtown. Especially if any of those Harwood towers go up. I do believe the part about the 100k workers but not overall size.
  7. Not all of it is shown in that view. That view doesnt show eastward or further up and east where more condos are going up. Though I agree it does have a TMC look to it. About 80% its size I'd say until those new towers fill in it'll be much a closer match!
  8. I know... If it could have stayed that way. I was trying to imagine it without the trees sticking out. Could look awesome.
  9. No leadership on the city council. From what I've heard the Mayor is fed up with it and wants something done. No one in control seems to have any real direction on the matter.. The area has a lot of potential. I think something will happen in the next 5 years. Personally I wish they just put a damn on the southside and let the river fill up to a point where its pretty and usable to people like the lake in front of Austin. The damn can open up during heavy rains to prevent flooding. Just my idea but Im not civil engineer.
  10. Yep. I heard some rap song with the Dallas microphone lyric. Its sounded decent actually but I dont who it was. I dont really follow recent rap. Right now Vanilla is rapping about burglarizing.
  11. The lighting can change to any color or none at all. Even do a light show. Andy Warhol said he loved it. A few Dallas rappers have referred to the Reunion as a giant microphone. I never saw it like that. Pretty cool! It does) Supposed to be a dandelion.
  12. TEXPRESS VID IS UP! JD does good work! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrMtn1GFB9g
  13. I don't know much about road construction but that whole underground highway is brand spankin new. So the black asphalt isnt covering up something old. Its all new. The videos kinda explain more about it.
  14. ^You are correct sir. I failed to see that to. Yes its Dallas/Plano/Irving....No Funkytown.
  15. Via Dollaztx on SSC: http://bizbeatblog.dallasnews.com/2015/09/first-major-project-set-to-start-in-dallas-midtown-district-along-lbj-freeway.html/ Construction is ready to kick off on the first major development in Dallas’ Midtown redevelopment district along LBJ Freeway. Apartment developer Mill Creek Residential has purchased a 4-acre property just east of the Galleria Dallas complex where it will construct a luxury apartment community. Quote: Mill Creek’s planned rental community will have 321 units in five story buildings. The project will be similar to two apartment projects the developer has done along North Central Expressway north of Uptown This is great news. The area is revving up..with property sales too.(read related links) Now build those bigger towers!
  16. Houston should overtake Chicago as number 3 city in U.S. by 2020. Chicagoans on the net talk trash about H-Town and I defend it. They are scared of falling to number 4. I'd like to see Dallas retake number 2 spot in Texas. SA's larger area benefits them but when you compare counties (not metros) Dallas Country has almost 700k more people than Bexar county 2,518,638 Vs 1,855,866. One could argue it has a bigger city feel to. /and Dallas number 3, but that might include DFW. You guys are tied at the hip./ Of course it does. The list is about metros. Sugarland and Baytown is included in yours. Seriously we should be proud that Texas has the top 3 spots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's a huge statement. The rest of the country is hatin it.
  17. Great photos of the new LBJ Express http://dfwfreeways.com/i635/roadside-lbj-express
  18. Via Joshua Dodd on SSC Amazing color photos of Dallas from 1956 and on. Very cool! https://joshburdick.smugmug.com/Architecture/Historical-Dallas/
