They were probably just testing it out. AFAIK, the structure on top is not 100% complete yet.

Update, courtesy of the Chronicle:
"The next phase, consisting of a Whole Foods and retail office complex at San Felipe and Post Oak Boulevard, will begin late this year or early next year, Wulfe said."http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headli...iz/6451679.html

Is that ground retail I see or, what?
-
Yes, like something out of Atlanta, Citykid.
-
Kobe knows what must be done.
-
Anyone remember this?

Neato; the structure of the tower portion is really interesting. Looks like it will be some sort of atrium, or stairwell, unless they intend to close the openings.
Thanks for taking the pics, mate!

Oh, y'all have the density alright. Yeah. Density.
-
Oh yes; that would be great. If you could get a shot of the "weird twisty tower" portion, that would be awesome.
-
I wonder what stores they will have at the base of the Calhoun Lofts? I'm getting tired of the current food offerings. A Chipotle would be nice.

Typical Sicilian!
Hell, even the owner of Interfin is Italian or something like that. Mwahahaha

NICE. Now BUILD IT ALREADY!

Fail. I've seen better AutoCAD work from 8th graders.

From what I can see from my patio, they haven't done anything to the interior other than put up the load bearing walls. Also, from what I remember reading, it's pretty much just being built now as shell space that anyone can come in and fix to their liking later.
I'd have to imagine that there might be some interested parties in that property whether it be a VA Expansion (it's right across Cambridge St), a research arm of UT Health Science Center, or even just professional office space ala the gay pride building that just went up at Holcombe (has anyone else seen the night time rainbow lights?).
Are you referring to the new Life Science center by Kirksey?

Well, if they were covered up before, then I guess the ones I saw earlier were new. I don't remember any banners on any wire fences the last time I passed that intersection (which was just a few days prior).
-
Drove by earlier; there is a fence that is up across the street from the existing structure covered in banners/renderings/etc. Might be on hold due to the economy, but this doesn't look too far off, consider how many other properties they managed to get done lately.

If I am not mistaken, the proposed highrise is a ways off from the sites shown in the model. Perhaps it is a different phase?
-
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
-
The story seems quite vague; did they approve the tax incentive, or did they approve the actual project? Eh?
-
I like how it seems to flow off of the Cooley building from that angle.
For some reason, the people in the shot look photoshopped!
Edit: The building contains the following institutes and research centers.
- Cockrell Center for Advanced Therapeutics.
- Dagmar, Dow, Dunn Innovators in Translational Research.
- Jerold B. Katz Academy of Translational Research.- 1

It can even be seen from 59! Did they add a couple of floors to it, or something?
Oh, and what's that going up just to the left of it? Despite the economy, that area has a ton fo stuff going up atm.
-
That sign's been there for eons. I remember seeing it last year when DG opened.
-
During a lecture at UH, they stated that they may have issues with financing at the moment (as usual), but they still are trying to push forward with it. Or something like that.

If it's anything like the firm's other projects, then it should fit in well with the midtown gentrification trends, sans Perry. Oh, and the retail is a plus.

Oh and yes...those new Calhoun lofts start at around 800 dollars a month. At that price, I could probably get a decent efficiency somewhere in Midtown or something.
