Cool. A couple of months ago, it was just a big hole in the ground!

I walked through a few weeks back and was under the impression that the construction equipment was related to the road work on Kirby. Maybe they are just using the lot for storage?
Nah, they were actually tearing the dirt up there or something...
-
Hmm, I was just in the vicinity a couple of times recently, and there has been construction work going on, with backhoes and the like. Are they doing the park thingy already, or something else?

It looks much more curvy than the last rendering.
The last rendering also looks like it was made by some bozo using Sketchup.

Any word on any concrete pours yet?

More culturally accepted? Please. That's B.S. Seems a politically-correct way to make an excuse for the number of births to kids here illegally.
What we need is more protection...on the border, that is. And put it on right, so they don't slip by!

There's still phase II to make up for that, but that's probably not coming anytime soon...

But hey, we could have the Pride Parades on floating floats from now on!

The residents are probably moving here:

Looks like something out of a late 80's or early 90's cartoon or something. Come on, people!

Quite a nice office indeed, but it isn't really that much different from the Houston office. The main differences I see are the "warehouse" portions with the high windows (more natural light), the exposed columns, and the higher ceilings. The Houston office shares most of the other components, including the coffee bar, designer furniture, shared spaces, etc. They even managed to get the landlord to allow them to construct a glass staircase connecting the two levels of their office. The SF one is definitely better than ours, but the Houston one is still nice.

I'm surprised that the San Antonio zoo made the list! The last time I was there, in late 2006, it wasn't too impressive. It wasn't bad though; some of the enclosures just seemed kinda small.

Lake Flato, eh? They're quite a distinct firm indeed, and they do have some pretty neat projects under their belts. The UT School of Nursing and Student Community Center in the TMC is one of theirs, in fact.

Oh baby, I'm toppin' out!

We all know better than that. I give Midtown another decade, maybe fifteen years. As their apartments start to age, rents begin to decline (adjusted for inflation), and the air of exclusivity is lost forever, this lemming-like population will only move on to rape and pillage another inner city neighborhood that's cool because the man says it is.
And where do you supposed that will be, eh?

As they say, you made that bed. Lie in it.
Sadly, the "thieves in suits" often make their beds with the politicians, which enables them to fleece the populace even more!

So, they closed Astroworld only to have Euro-Disney open up across the street!

Not too pretty, but it will do a decent job of covering up that part of the Wedge. Oh, and it's more affordable hotel rooms for the CBD. Win.

It reminds me of the many two-story strip mall complexes going up around the Westchase area, off of Bellaire.

YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!
No more themed garbage this close to town...ech.

But hey, I'm an architecture student. It's not like I'll be sleeping much in those dorms anyway!
-
That's the thing; 545 is per person, if you get a basic one bedroom unit, which is split between two people. An efficiency is around 800+. I spoke to someone a bit back about it since I was interested in housing next semester, but it's too pricey for me, esp since I will have to rely on loans.
I'm not exactly sure how much the regular dorms are; anyone care to fill me in on that?
