Don't give them any more fruitcake. Perhaps the law limiting the gifts that can be given are contributing to the number of crazy postmen. Another fruitcake from Mrs Wilson can send a perfectly good mailman over the edge.

They do sell small quantities of food and coffee at a Walgreens. And medicine on top of that! Perhaps a Walgreens would've been preferable? In fact, screw all restaurants and coffee shops. Walgreens is all we need from now on, sayeth BuilderGeek.
Or a CVS, even! They now have ATMs in some locations!
*senses more going up in Midtown*

Looks like those damn Capulets can declare a WIN over the Montagues now.

"If I step on her foot by accident, will she charge me for sexual harassment?"
"One must wonder if Sports Illustrated will come out with a footwear model issue!"
"Stop staring at my feet when I talk to you! My eyes are up here!"
"This also gives a whole new meaning to those Nike Shox commercials. Boing!"

Went there for a late lunch after coming home from classes; the place was PACKED, and they were lacking a few items I am used to seeing at other Whole Foods locations. Of course, most of the workers are fresh and new, and don't quite get the hang of it yet, but most of them were quite helpful; that's a big plus. Loved the layout; it has high ceilings like the Westheimer and Kirby location, but feels less crowded, due to the way things are set up. I personally still prefer the cozy Bellaire location, however. The landscaping outside is nice, too, and the nice outdoor cafe area is a plus.

Download Mozilla Firefox, as well as NoScript. It basically enables you to block whatever it is you don't want to see.

Do I smell any highrises in there?
Personally, I'd like to see them try to outdo the St Luke's Tower. A giant catheter, maybe?
I kind of wish the Med Center had a bit more residential. I kind of doubt that will happen though, but I would like to live there if it did. And I'm not talking about the Astrodome area that people call "Medical Center" when they are trying to sell condos and apartments.Yes, I agree; I love the "unique" energy and vibe the Med Center has. perhaps a mixed use development of some sort would be proper (I've seen some proposals a while back, but they never really took a foothold; one of particular interest was at the intersection of Fannin and Braeswood, if that's close enough to the TMC).
Furthermore, I hope they integrate more retail space into the new buildings, as the options seem to be far and few at the moment; AFAIK, the only real "retail hub" seems to be where the Starbucks, Subway, Chipotle, etc are.

This is far worse than sprawl. It is Disnification.
But hey, some people seem to want to live in a Disnified world. If there is a market for it, and someone can make a profit, then it will be done.
Not my style, though, but hey, whatever does it for them.
-
Well, hey; this beats uncontrolled sprawl. At least they can pitch a gate and charge admission, and get people to wait for hours to get on a ride, or something!

My dog likes pie, and he's a herding breed!

My commute to/from uni is now 20 minutes longer.....

I like pie.

that looks like the existing oak grove that is being integrated into the park plan.
Yeah, I know; it just reminds me of a drive down Main in the Museum District. So lush...
-
Looks like they "borrowed" a few of the majestic oaks from Fannin/Main near the Museum district. I love it.

So is the 55 story addition like a sure thing? That sure would be neato to see. Is there a rendering of it yet?
There is a reserved page for it on Emporis at the moment, so I'm guessing that it would be a go (hopefully).

Got any Emo kids in your neighborhood?

Wow...what a disgusting residence...

Wow I've never seen so many pedestrians in downtown Houston before! Must not have been a fairly mild day or they would have all been in the tunnels!
Hehehe, now we have evidence that Houston's streets ARE indeed pedestrian friendly!

The housing there is relatively on the "lower end" of things. Probably hit hard by ARMs and subprime loans or whatever (I'm not exactly an expert in explaining this, so perhaps one of our more experienced members can enlighten us) .

Try Greatwood. The houses are usually just as nice as the ones in Telfair, and there are a lot on the market that are less than 3 yrs old. Furthermore, they are priced about -75k-150k less than brand new ones in Telfair, are further away from 59 (still close access, but far less noise, unless you live in the Manor section), and more heavily forested.
435k in Telfair:
315k in Greatwood: A tad older than you may like, but there are others in this range; I just selected this one since it was built by the same homebuilder as the latter.

Heh, interesting story about his background, though, if it is true:

Looks like someone misplaced the original Pavilions buildings, with the residential included...
