The Shoppes At Uptown Crossing At 5405 South Rice Ave.
Ctaf replied to Pleak's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
Well.........isn't this near Gulfton? -
I'm about to show my ignorance again, but is this a "CSI" type of building? Doing autopsies on murder victims and that type of thing? Seems like a large building for just that, I don't think Houston's murder rate is that high. But I like it, although it could just be the TMC has me brainwashed to like any design they put out

I thought Midtown had a lot more available land than shown in the map above. I guess I've always had this picture in my head of lots of surface parking lots in midtown, I guess I merged it with downtown. Does east of main have more available land? I need to get out more

I love that lil pappasitos, and it was converted from an old gas station, at least that's what I was told Would the university line go past this location, if built?

The renderings seem to have an unusually large amount of Asians. Anyways, it's a nice building, doesn't have the wow factor, but still respectable. However, if this getting built means one of the more ambitious building proposals doesn't get built, then I don't like it

I love seeing what's going on in Dallas and Austin, I'm a Texas booster, so it's good to see these developments. Now if only San Antonio could also join the fun and start getting some new taller buildings at least

Broadstone Midtown Phase I & II: Multifamily At 3800 Main St.
Ctaf replied to KinkaidAlum's topic in Midtown
All these new apartments being built seem to be in the 5 story range, why is that? Is that the height that they are most profitable at? I'd like to start seeing more 8-10 story complexes, but I'm sure there's a reason most developers are stopping at 5 stories- 214 replies

Pizza in Houston

I love the giant slice for two dollars at Costco. But if not costco, I like Fuzzys, Brothers, Star (deep dish), and occasionally Pinks -

That skinny building, is it a separate building or is it actually part of the Marriott? -
Surface Lot East Of Four Seasons & South One Park Place
Ctaf replied to UtterlyUrban's topic in Houston Real Estate
Wasnt there supposed to be a Two Park Place at one point? I swear back when One Park Place was being built, there was something about a goal to add a second tower at some point, but I can't find anything to support that. I could be confusing dreams with reality again -

Does anyone know the plan for the Willie G's lot? I know at one point the restaurant was going to move to the 610 feeder next to Landrys HQ so the current lot could be developed. Did that plan die? Seems like a great location for a high rise or two- 594 replies

GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.
Ctaf replied to MontroseNeighborhoodCafe's topic in Downtown
I agree with adding a new movie theater downtown, maybe not necessarily one with 30 screens, I'm sure 14 or so would work. It needs an IMAX screen and also 3D, neither of which Sundance has, as far as I know. That would allow Sundance to free up screens for more indie movies, which the theater seems designed for, instead of showing the latest Hollywood blockbusters. I'm sure all the new residents that downtown will be adding would appreciate having both types of movie theaters. And maybe one cheap chain restaurant, like an Applebee's, just so there is a mix of options. Also, since this hypothetical movie theater would be vertical, I think a Dave & Busters would be great on the ground floor. I know I went off topic, so, how much does a room at the hotel Alessandra cost? -

So guests will have to go up to the top floor to check in? Is that normal now with new hotels? I've never seen it before, although I don't get much fancier than a Courtyard Marriott -

In that picture (#384), whats the building in front of the JW Marriott, with the crown? It looks awesome. I'm still trying to learn all these different buildings -
In the first picture, what is the building across from the Texas tower? It's very pretty, but it looks like some of the windows are boarded up. Is it abandoned?

I see that there is talk of doing a line extension from Dallas to OKC, if that's the case, has there been any talk of doing a line extension from Houston to New Orleans?
