  1. Niche, you are wasting time on this person. He has no capacity for exploring the depths of his own feelings, much less to be able to have compassion for others. Let's let this thread die, so we can go back to the land of the caring.

Please lady, don't even "pretend" to know anything about me. You haven't a clue as to who I am or what I've been through. Why don't you go make better use of your time, wasting it, "caring" for schizos and weak-minded folks with suicidal tendencies ?

"Oh, the poor jumper", screw him, he made his choice. People who had to witness his selfish act didn't have a choice. That is who you should feel sorry for. But you haven't addressed the victims, so it is obvious, you don't care about them. When you start caring about the TRUE victims of his heinous act, then you can preach to me about "compassion".

  2. How is that your judgment to make? Do you think it will change their mind that you do not approve?

Your experience is clearly very limited. Each of my parents have worked rehab in residential psychiatric facilities. Suicide is a far more frequent occurrence than is violence towards others.

    Read this.

Niche, we have already established that I don't care if someone offs themself, just as long as they aren't endangering the life of someone else in their process. I agree with you, basically 99 out of 100 Schizos wind up harming themselves before they would harm others, I see that as a good thing, they off themselves before they off an innocent party. That's the lesser of 2 evils, if you will. Again, it goes back to weak-minded individuals.

I also said that it is a weak-minded person who commits such an act, I still stand behind that statement. I understand how some of you people see that as callous. I see it as only the strong can and will survive in this world.

Since you like to read so much...... http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/serial_...k/insane_8.html

BTW, your parents worked at a rehab center ? My Father was CFO/CEO of a fortune 500 company for 15 years, and my Mother was a Loan officer at a Wells Fargo for 10 years, that doesn't make me a financial expert, now does it.

  3. I read your whole thread and I also along with many people here I'm sure totally disagree with what you are saying, and more importantly your somewhat dismissive attitude

Your opinion on people afflicted a mental illness such as depression, alzheimers or schizophrenia is troubling to me. These are the people that end off jumping off buildings. Not people who lost their dogs. I assume from your tone that you have never had the misfortune to share heart breaking experiences such as these with friends or loved ones.

For that anyway, you are blessed.

And just what is my opinion of people with Alzheimer's ?

Depression, does not a justification for suicide make. In my experience, people with Schizophrenia usually try going after OTHER people to kill, NOT trying to kill themselves.

  4. Do you feel that all suicides are "cowards"? Why?

Don't people have the right to choose to terminate their own life if they wish?

Who are you to tell someone that they should go on living if they don't want to?

If someone is dying from a terminal illness, are they cowards for choosing when to go?

You are way too judgemental about the way you view other people's lives.

You should be careful about that, because some day you may find yourself in their shoes.

In the future....... try reading the WHOLE thread , before you comment. I refer you to post #46 in this thread.

But to answer your question, if one feels the desperate need to kill oneself, does one have to make a spectacle of oneself to do it ? (i.e: trying to land on someone's car during lunchrush from a 10 story drop downtown)

  5. Emme, you have to look at everyday as a blessing, not as necessary. If you made it through the day, that is a GOOD day. I can see someone having a "bad day". But, do you truly believe that suicide is justified, barring a Kevorkian diagnosed, terminally ill, you ain't coming back from this one, so let me put you out of your misery, type assisted suicide ? Assisted for that, I agree with. Stepping off a 10 story building to do a belly-flop because I lost my job, my wife is cheating on me, and my dog just died, is NOT justified IMO. I call these types of suicides selfish because do you really think that the guy considered that he might fall on poor ttu's car, or quite possibly ON ttu. No, he was only thinking of himself..........selfish.

I wish you compassion as well, compassion for victims like ttu as I do. The jumper is NOT a victim, he is a consequence of his own actions.

  6. Some days are good, the rest are necessary.

"Some days are good, the rest are necessary." Did you really just type that ? If that is your outlook on life, you may as well do yourself in NOW also.

There is nothing, NOTHING, in this world that is soooo bad that you have to kill yourself over. But, there is a certain "thinning of the herd" that is required from time to time, so, perhaps the weak minded and heartless, need to succumb to their endeavors ?

Wait, you're right, people who commit suicide aren't cowards, they are SELFISH cowards.

  7. LOL, I would give up just looking at it.

Are they really considering leaving the states? If they are, why would we care if they survive? I think Houston would be a good move for GM, or Dallas.

Don't think it is a consideration, it is all but done. Chi-com production costs are much much less money than UAW rules dictate. The factories are already built just need a little re-tooling which the Chinese Gov. will happily accomodate to take a Cornerstone of American business, AWAY from America. I guess GM plans to get out of the American market all together. They are shutting doors on 1100 dealers by 2010. The rest, I guess, will have to decide whether they will sell China's lead-based paint products or not. Consider, cheaper steel, doesn't necessarily mean less strength in it, but this IS China we are talking about.

I personally think it is a Dick move by GM, and this is part of the reason I am selling my Oldsmobile. I am thinking about buying another defunct American car. Either an SRT8 Challenger or Charger. I think I could steal one at this point. Most likely go with a new Mustang GT, that I can trick out myself.

  8. Yeah, he landed right next to my car as I was driving up Louisiana to work. He jumped from the parking garage. I stopped and got out in that parking lot next to the Wedge Tower Garage and started to go over to him, but a security guard was already there and had called 911. Wasn't much anyone could do for him. The police arrived about a minute later and traffic was being directed around him; I left as I didn't want to be in the way. Pretty disturbing to be cruising into work and seeing a body drop out of the sky.

Sorry that you had to witness that ttu. Not a good way to start your day, is it ?

  9. Without knowing the property or the area my realtor, in our first phone conversation, stated that if you're asking for closing cost you can't negotiate for less than the asking price.

Kick that Greed "BW"itch to the curb. Time for a new agent.

In this market, you hold all the cards. Closing costs PLUS repairs PLUS $5k off the price, or tell the "realtor" to give you 2% back at closing off HER end, if she demands you make a full price bid. Since it seems that she thinks she is getting the full 6% commish ?!

  10. I would like a carport as well. I have had a couple of quotes ranging in the $4,500 to $5,500 price range. The deminsions I want are 12' wide x 22' long with a storage unit built in - 6' x 12'.

I need to start looking around again.

Toolman, I recently got back into the home building and remodeling business. THIS is THE best product on the market, bar none. I would sell it to you myself, but my area does not cover Houston. It costs a little bit more, but it is worth it. I speak from experience, I have a carport built out of this myself.

  11. Im wearing a mask and gloves tomorrow, seriously. First Swine Flu death in Houston and Swine Flu case in Ft.Bend Coutny.

    Don't 'quote' me, please.

Are you saying that YOU are gonna be the first Swine Flu death ?

Anywho, the media here in Austin has already started changing the name of Swine Flu to the New H1N1 Virus, noticed it today while driving to an appointment. I have already told the head office that I won't take appointments in Cibolo or Shertz, or anywhere near San Antonio for the next week or two. Better to be safe than sorry.

  12. HISD wants a copy of a utility bill as proof of residency to enroll a child. I don't want to give them that sort of data, as it's none of their business. So far HISD hasn't provided a copy of the School Board action establishing a utility bill as minimum proof of residency. Has anyone ever fought this before? I know, it's pretty petty, but there's enough public record data to prove where we live that I don't see their point.

What is it on your gas bill, that you would be afraid of ? There is no SSN, no DL, no credit info, nothing but your name and address, and a few numbers that no one at the school could make heads or tails of. No one at the school gives a rat's patootie how much your bill is, but take the suggestion of using a Sharpie Marker and blacken out the amount if it means that much to you. Your paranoia seems unfounded, quit holding up your kid's education and for Pete's sake, take off that tinfoil hat !

  13. President Ford made an announcement concerning Swine Flu back in the 70's.

    http://www.capitalcentury.com/1976.html

    CONSPIRACY THEORY ALERT:

I personally think it is all a ruse. A way to make more people believe that we desperately need to close the border to Mexico, and put more security on it. Although it is a REAL disease, it is being blown out of proportion. Officials closed the whole Shertz ISD down for a week because of Swine Flu, Shertz is a suburb of San Antonio, about as far as Katy is from H-town.

  14. Fight the power! I got $600 out of Wal Mart Grocery for a dent from a shopping cart a couple years ago. Dozens of carts around the lot and overflowing cart returns = bad for Wal Mart.

    flipper

Yeah, you might want to keep that under your hat, or the insurance adjuster may feel like you are a chronic claims maker. ;)

I finally got to talk to my boy JJ about your paint dilemma. He is currently out of town, his grandfather passed, he won't be back til next week or so.

  15. Try as we might, Texans are not an ethnicity unlike Mexicans.

Should Texas cowboys be offended for using that butt-ugly representation ? How do you know the shorter guy is Mexican? He's wearing a mask ! For that matter, how do we know that 6'6" anorexic guy is a cowboy, just because he is wearing a hat ? That doesn't make him a cowboy, or a Texan ?

They didn't say it was a Spicy Mexican Midget. They used the appropriate "Little" to describe his stature. Are you saying that Luchadors aren't "spicy", how do you know ?

  16. The Somali pirates have hijacked 4 more ships since the incident, but I don't think it is entirely our problem. Let the Egyptian Govt. handle their boats. The Filipino boats we might need to do something about though. I will agree with what was said yesterday about the Big Mouth Media going off half-cocked explaining ALL the details, should not have happened. You have to chalk that up to bad management though, as word of a hush hush approach, be taken as to what actually befell the would-be pirates, which should have come from the same man that actually ordered that they be fired upon. From now on there will be no chance of a Seal operation like that happening again. Shame shame on them, right course of action, wrong course on the spilling of the beans.

  17. Yes.

Is this the appropriate time to mention all the types of commerical insurance issued by AIG (and others) that were covered by swap agreements? Doh! Many, if not most, of these commerical trade swap/reinsurance deals were inherited and then hedged by Goldman Sachs (the latest bundle is courtesy of the TARP). You guys saw the earnings report today, right?

LOL! Somali pirates will be the SAVIOR of AIG !!! Talk about a win / win for the U.S. Govt.

I can hear Crunch now. " So, how long will you be cruising off the coast of Somalia, Mr. Lorentz ?"

  18. the SEAL go back to the Kennedy administration..credit where credit is due

further, the predecessor to the SEALS, UDT, goes back to WWII, again, credit where credit is due

    oy vey !

Don't think any of the snipers in the Somali action were trained during WW2, credit where credit is due.

Nor, were any of those Seals likely to have been trained during the Kennedy administration, credit where credit is due.

Obama "inherited" the current Navy Seals from W's administration, much like Obama has "inherited" our economic crisis from W., at least to hear Dems. tell it. So, if Obama has "inherited" one, he obviously has inherited BOTH, has he not ?

Try not to take a joke so literal next time NS. Think about the context before you post.
