They should build a observation tower. The Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas does a lot of business. It has a roller coaster on top of it, restaurants. I actually bungy jumped off of it! That was the scariest thing I have done so far. I want too visit the Tokyo Sky Tree next time I'm in Japan. It is at 2,080 feet tall.
That sounds interesting, have a picture of either one?

This one belongs in downtown instead of the current amegy building they have but oh well can't have everything downtown

Yup, new LED lighting
I have to agree several times i have driven in the area and do see the crown lighting stand out a bit more and i am glad they are because we need more of that in our buildings otherwise we would have to wait until 609 and it's crown makes our skyline glow and come to life

yeah.. thats what i was afraid of when i saw the "$300 million" price tag. and people seriously want the Justice Complex site to be turned into more of this crap?? make it an addition to Buffalo Bayou Park/dont sell it off to the highest bidder of a midrise wrap complex.
yep.. i said it somewhere (800 Bell thread?) that Houston needs more urban parks, especially with the influx of residents.. and some of this land like the Justice Complex could be turned into park land attatched to Buffalo Bayou, instead of being redeveloped into a bunch of mediocre crap.
Totally agree i think the hardy yards can be used to something better and possibly add the so called water hole idea? that can be added along a plan with the bayou including the area where the current policy station is located and it wold be a good idea to bring down that days inn and make that spot into a park.

This is going to be great with residential near by as well this can either be good for greenstreet or it might be bad depending on the type of retail they add to this area overall i think this will be good for this area period and i just mention it might be good for greenstreet since it is within walking distance it might be bad because most might consider going to this area instead of greenstreet depending on what it is added to the convention center.

so the name for the visitor center will be the " wortham insurance" visitor center thanks to a $750,000.00 dollar donation

I'll take it!!! plust i hope maybe somewhere on top some good lighting to be some what of a crown can be added, hopefully more renderings will come out.

Many Ideas, maybe make part of it like a grand central station for the future high speed train connecting dallas to houston but i am sure other ideas could come if this is to happen.

that's correct the third hotel is the one that bailed out

This building is flying upwards. Can someone remind me how tall this will be?
I am very excited about this one. My company currently has "deals" with about 8 of the downtown hotels for room rates. This hotel's price point should beat them all and save us lots of money. Best still, it is also very convenient to our office.
It is suppose to be 14 stories, Hampton Inn 168 rooms and homewood suites 132 rooms with completion date September 2015

Hilton is not planning any major changes or upgrades just some upgrades like Nate99 mentioned.

Could have used better excuses or be to the point and said, well money did really become a factor and we went over our heads with original design. Everyone know that the original design including them was to make an impact and stand out. FUNNY!!!

We will also be able to see some of the work through the cam from 609 main

Per the business Journal, so they gave their version on why the changed the design, LOL!.

My remedy if nothing is done to it by 2017? Drape huge banners over the sides of the building promoting the super bowl.
Surely the city can work around their own regulations of no advertisements/signs over 40' or whatever it is.
Dreaming here but if someone would be bold to get this property tear it down and build something similar to the titan that never happened but hey nothing wrong with dreaming.

This is interesting, SSP has Le Meridien under construction at 25 stories?
http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?cityID=28&statusID=2
Listing 1 to 43 of 43 buildings
Name | Floors | Status | Year | Drawings • 609 Main at Texas 49 under construction (1) • 2929 Weslayan 39 under construction • Market Square Tower 40 under construction • BHP Billiton Tower 30 under construction (1) • Capitol Tower 35 under construction • Marriott Marquis Convention Center Hotel 30 under construction • Residences at Market Square 32 under construction • 3400 Montrose 30 under construction • Hilcorp Energy Tower 23 under construction • Le Meridien Hotel 25 under construction
43 high rises under construction is pretty good.

Yes, there is a retail task force trying to make that intersection the heart of the "Retail District." That could be a decent intersection and Dallas will ultimately become a decent shopping street if Midway, 1111 Travis, 1111 Main, and the Downtown District pull off some nice improvements and do a good job leasing. But, with all these higher-end hotels, DG, and improvements over by the GRB, it's getting easier to envision retail wanting to be closer to those amenities. And, right now, Main and Dallas is pretty down-and-out feeling. I've taken retailers by that corner for years and, just about every time, something crazy is going down as we're touring. It's sad, really. A lot would have to happen in order for that to be the center of retail downtown. Could happen...and I hope it does, but we're still a long way from that intersection being attractive to retailers.
Those are some good points, Avenida de Americas might become more attractive as you stated due to the Hotels but also Discovery Green is a plus and soon the nau center and the already minute paid park and toyota center.
