More glass in on the bottoms floors

I picked up tickets at a Stubhub office there. It was a tiny two rool office but from what I could see it didnt look abondoned. Very cool building on the inside.

From an employee who has seen it, the main description I was given was that it's U shaped. Not much more than that.

I've always thought that The Allen Center plaza could easily be turned into our version of The Rockefeller Center. It would take some work but it already has two restaurant essentially facing the plaza and The Doubletree hotel.

Correct me if I am wrong but is there not a massive 7 story parking garage going up a block over from MMP that is supposed to service the area for big events?

It would be nice if they did something like Audi did with the multi story building, and sold the rest of the land to a developer.

I started a thread about this very subject in the Midtown forum. Seems like there were mixed feelings about it but I think it would be great.

More than 100 people were there at Prairie and Milam and it was the best view. All the construction workers were gathered there too just inside the barrier.

It was the corner to be at it think. I kept wondering if there was fellow HAIF member around me, lol.

I felt the need to add one thing to the debate. I recently visited Singapore and its climate is more hot and humid than Houston. Let me say that again, MORE hot and humid than Houston. The reason I bring this up is because they have indeed managed to create an urban city that is centered around pedestrian life. Before anyone brings up how different their government is I conceded that point. Their government structure and politics are very different. No argument there. The same applies to geography. The whole point is that despite their weather challanges you see people outside all the time walking, eating and enjoying the sites. To add more fuel to the fire they have an extensive tunnel system in downtown and in the neighborhoods.  This tunnel system is of course an extension of the subway system there but I digress.

If Singapore can build an urban oasis in hotter and more humid climate than so can we. My understanding is that once their mindset turned urban it has taken them 20-30 years to get where they are. My hope is that now that we have turned to an urban mindset, though it will take several year if not decades, we will eventually be rewarded with the urban city we have always wanted.

I hate to be negative but I do wonder which view will command the highest rate. The Chevron parking parage, Wedge garage, or the surface lot

I was in Austin this weekend and sitting in the bar at the Hilton I overheard a manager say that a dorm/apartment had reached out to the Hilton for 100 rooms because of the same situation. Only difference is that school at UT starts Wednesday. Pretty crappy situation but as far as I am concerned it's just another college challenge to overcome. Things don't always happen as planned.
