  1. Looks terrible, roads are terrible, extremely sketchy, will take a long time to transition to something decent, if ever, etc. Townhouses over there are quite affordable, I don't understand why you wouldn't go that route vs this condo. If it were in a high land price area it would make a lot more sense since people would buy in to a smaller dwelling because it's the only way they can live in that area. This would be a nice addition to the River Oaks District area where the Arabella and Wilshire are going in.
  2. This would be a much better project if it were located in Uptown/Kirby/RO. I don't get wanting to live in a cardboard box in the bad part of town.
  3. La Quinta? I can't imagine anything to grand going in a location like that.
  4. The view from the south side units is really breathtaking and will be blocked. They'll be taking a pretty big financial hit when this building goes up. There are a dozen units for sale that have been on the market for a long time that aren't selling, and won't unless they steeply discount them or get a really dumb buyer. Depending on the placement of 1660, the southeast units may not have as much of a blocked view, but you're still going to have people looking directly in your window.
  5. I'm usually happy for ANYTHING to be built/developed that's higher density, but this would be much better to have never been. It is really an eyesore.
  6. It would look a million times better if they would paint it gray. The 'light' on top was also on this morning. The pyramid itself doesn't light up, there are just some flood lights up there shining on it. It's bizarre at best.
  7. I bet all the people who bought in are going . I wonder if resale prices are gonna tank since no one will want to buy a unit in such an awful looking building.
  8. I wonder if the guy with the unit 4th from the top facing south wanted the really random out-of-line awkward dual balconies?
  9. $0.30 to $0.60/per sq ft per month is pretty much the range in Houston, depending on building age and amenities. Many older buildings don't have individual meters for power/water/cable so they're included in the HOA and paid as one large bill. $700 a month on 1500 sq ft in an old building is really quite reasonable. About a third to a half of what you pay in HOA fees will typically pay the insurance for the building, which is by far the largest expense.
  10. Gosh a 500 unit condo is intense. I live in a 300 unit one and the HOA meetings are a nightmare. Can't even imagine throwing in another 200+ owners
  11. Quite a nice theater but for sure there's a lot of work to do. Guys were literally drilling and measuring around me when I was getting my ticket (which they're having lots of trouble getting to scan). There is also zero signage and the first floor is completely empty except for the escalator and very small desk. When I got inside I had to ask if it was even the movie theater because it sure didn't look like it. Food was okay (had the bbq pizza), but it's really hard to eat in the dark and in such a big chair. It was a great experience for free, but I probably won't pay $24 very often. It honestly isn't much more comfortable than Edwards Greenway. And the first two rows, absolutely wouldn't pay money for.
  12. Apparently the iPic is open now? They have the option to purchase tickets for shows today on the website (old movies only until Nov 6th).
  13. I still can not for the life of me figure out what the heck they're doing finishing the facade 100 times in different shades of grey or white. It's looking now like the whole thing will be a hideous looking white monolith thing.
  14. The space is larger than the Cosmo lot. You could easily fit a Cosmo oriented East-West on the parcel which would minimize 'view destruction' for the Cosmo. Whatever is planned there I'm sure the Cosmo will end up suing. Between this and the current BRT suit, those guys will be shelling out some major coin.
  15. The crown/diamond thingy is on top now. Looks pretty weird. Still trying to visualize how it's going to look finished but I keep thinking it'll look so out of place.
