  1. Here’s an email they sent today to people who signed up for updates:

“Thank you very much for your interest in my newest addition to the Houston skyline! The opportunity to develop a residential tower between the Galleria and River Oaks, essentially adjacent to Highland Village is definitely exciting.

Right now, this new development is a work in progress. My current focus is on creating functional and interesting floor plans. We will be offering 2B-2.5BR, 3B-2BR, and 3B-3.5BR plans of varying sizes along with Penthouses of approximately 4,200 to 5,200 square feet. The top floor will have two story Penthouses with a private elevator. I am on the fifth pass at this effort and should be able to complete the floor plates within the next three weeks.

After conclusion of the interior lay out, we move to the time-consuming exterior design of the structure. This is always complicated as we have to balance design and materials with realistic costs and structural engineering requirements. I am envisioning a classical style inspired by two world class buildings in New York, one residential and the other theater oriented. The trick is to meld the two unrelated developments into a residential tower encompassing a cohesive design borrowing the best features from each. This is both a challenging and inspiring exercise that will take weeks to unfold.

In the interim, we are still on the search for a name for this to be designed condo tower, we are always open to suggestions. We are also in process of specifying the amenities that will help define the development. And, trying to make these amenities outstanding by any measure.

As progress is made in the design arena, I will send you frequent updates. Until then, thanks again for your interest in ???????, a new and timeless addition to the skyline.”

  2. From another article: Chief Art Acevedo says illegal gambling cannot be allowed to continue because "it drives organized crime and fuels other criminal activity."

Over looking the club from the lofts for the past couple years, I don't think there was ever any kind of incident at the place. Never saw a cop, never heard of an incident, never heard or saw a patron acting inappropriately. Prior to it being the poker club, it was Moe's and they'd play loud music until late at night. The poker club was a much better neighbor. I know they're doing this under the disguise of 'money laundering' but you can literally do that with any business and there hasn't been any proof that even occurred here.

Other than its dreadful podium and its protesting residents I really don’t think the design of the Cosmopolitan is as atrocious as many people like to say it is on here. The tower portion above the garage is neither stellar nor bad looking IMO. With that said, I honestly do not care whether it’s “blocked” from view or not. Want to see truly ugly, look at the neighboring Astoria, and those two faux Tuscan style, beige behemoths, Camden Post Oak and Dominion Post Oak Apartment Towers.  When can we pretty please block those from view too?!

The astoria is a scar on uptown that i'll never forgive RD for. The cosmo isn't really that bad.

Last night i rode my bike past this lot and it was packed with cars all for the Post Oak Poker Club. I wonder how long they will stay there, preventing this from getting started? I think they should move to the old Willie G's building just up the road on Post Oak...that would be perfect for them!

I recently got a puppy so I've been taking it out at night and that place is packed at 3am even on weeknights. I need to go drop by for a drink one night and see if I can get some scoop on when the lease is up from some employees.
