dang those people in the adjacent apartments...bye bye view...and sunlight...
I'm kind of welcoming the dystopian mazerunner wall. Facing dead west is terrible in the summer, I rarely ever open my blinds and maybe my electric bill will go down now.

It's hard for me to imagine land here being worth the $75? or 100?/sf that it would seem like it would surely require for the condo owners to agree to a buyout compared to their market value as condos, especially with the access issues in this area. This land is not really easy access to the west loop or I-10 in any sense, as you would think it would be on first glance.
This. I know someone who lives there. I hate going over there because it oddly sucks getting in and out. Streets also flood really bad right there. I would definitely stay south of the bayou.

How close will this be to the Cosmo? I can't tell from this pic. Are they butt-cheek neighbors, or is there a small gap in-between?
We sold our home last year, and decided to go condo. In looking at all the choices, we were scared away from the Galleria area by the relative closeness of the buildings. We knew if a building didn't already have a next-door neighbor, it would in the next few years.
For example, we looked at the Wilshire, but knew something would be going up before long on the property due south. We looked at Astoria, same thing. It was challenging to find a mid-to-high-rise condo, in an area we liked, that wouldn't soon be smothered.
Yeah Randall Davis does a terrible job at picking property locations. The Cosmo should have been built on the corner where this building is going up. The Astoria should have been built on the other corner where the ATT store is now. I'm sure that property will be a highrise in a few years. Check out the west side of Highland Tower. That's a pretty low risk view.

Here’s a fairly terrible pic of the excavation.

After a few weeks pause, they moved a construction trailer on site the other day and are beginning work again.

During construction they had fences up to prevent people from crossing here, and tons of people still did, even with small children and with no regard for yielding to traffic. They still will do so without a crosswalk. People park at Dillards to avoid the Galleria parking garage mess during the holidays, and they certainly aren't going to be inconvenienced to walk down to the nearest intersection. I predict these bus lanes are going to result in a lot of people/cars getting hit.

RD sent out a new email about the project, basically that they're still working the design, but it will be named The Paramount.

Their financials are absolute trash. I really doubt restructuring can save that mess.

...maybe Tillman could take over Post Oak Corner and do something along those lines there for something to expand on what he has already done?
If there was a HAIF bingo game, Gene mentioning redeveloping Post Oak Corner would definitely be a square 😂

They hauled away the metal supporting the awnings and packed up the excavator this morning in the rain, so possibly they are leaving the building for awhile... 🤷🏻♂️
If you’re bored, feel free to look at some of the vids/booms I’ve taken: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/0p9dtc4eugtypdc/AABhxHWhghdS5QlrVctcOxAAa?dl=0
Really great footage. I loved the video where you were like "I can feel that every time" because my place was legit shaking too.

baby steps?! haha
what in the world? why would they just take the lettering down? are they planning to keep this temporarily as the on site leasing office perhaps before construction or something?
The front of it is all bashed in too right now. They were taking some stuff out on a trailer yesterday like hardwood boards and some fixtures. Probably just delayed until it's cleaned out inside.

I hope the architects put some thought into how the backside looks, since this new structure is going to be right outside my window 😰
Probably parking garage. I'm about 150 feet to your right, but I'm back behind the pool so I'll at least have some buffer. Hopefully there's some decent clearance between us and the new structure.

OMG! 😑 well, i was driving down Post Oak last night and they were indeed testing the now unwrapped trees and...
they are using those darn changing color lights on them! i may be alone here but i just think changing color lights feel cheap/tacky etc.
I prefer just white for the most part but could even bear with another solid color...
anyway...they had about 8 of them up and flashing away 🙃
Yeah I hate them. They are super tacky looking. Old 'real' looking trees are so much better.

They just brought in another trailer full of trees to install. They’re multiplying

The poker place will not be reopening unless its behind bars. They were busted a couple of weeks ago.
There was an article I think in the Chron about how HPD has seized like 13 million from these clubs but basically prosecuted almost no one.

Post Oak Place: Mid-Rise Development At 1801 Post Oak Blvd.
in Uptown and Galleria Area
Posted
Literally a little bit more than half this development is just the parking garage.
