My problem with this development has always been the location.  If it was in downtown, or on that light rail line (as in the train passed in front of the building and you stare down at the station from your loft) then I would already have a deposit down.  As is, I find it hard to justify buying the small space where I'd still have to walk 1/2 a mile to the train or drive to places.  It is the most affordable places for sale in downtown, but still - this would have been perfect where the Days Inn is, or even across the street from the new high school.  I hope that this is just the first of a few of these developments, and one will go in downtown, and the med center.

The developer most likely got a reasonable price for the property.  You cannot walk 1/2 a mile?  Get a bike.

  2. United Airlines meals have got so much better.  I was very impressed with the Stroopwaffel it has caramel, cinnamon, bourbon vanilla.  You put it on top of the coffee to heat it up.  It is delicious!  There omelets are also very good.  They have turned their food into very good experience.

Has anyone heard who the design team is for the United space ?

I have a friend that does refunds off Jefferson.  They are moving there with the remaining employees from Smith St.  They are so excited to be in a LEED Platinum office tower with a gym, conference office.  But No word what floors they will occupy.  250,000 square feet must be 15 floors.

  4. Last time I flew United I was leaving Lake Tahoe flying out of Reno and connecting in San Francisco on the way back to Houston. The plane had issues, we had to get off, it was delayed 3 hours, finally got to San Fran, missed the connecting flight and the next available flight to Houston wasn't for like 8 hours, then that flight was delayed 2 hours.... I haven't flown United since...

Anyway, I'm glad 609 is getting leased up.

United has 6,000 flights a day and this month United is number 1 for one time arrivals.  Ahead of DL,WN and AA.  Last year Forbes ranked United 8th place now it is 2.   Things are finally looking good.  I defend them since I'm Premier and they treat me very nice.

  5. There more employees here in Houston then Chicago.  They are closing the reservation offices in HNL and DTW.  Agents have to move to Chicago or Houston or work from home.  United still owns a huge building off the beltway on the other side Greenspoint mall.  I never thought they would rent 609 Main.  Hope they name it United Airlines Center.

  6. J.C. Penney laying off 9% of staff at headquarters.

The retailer is cutting hundreds of jobs at headquarters as it looks to improve its finances.

J.C. Penney is laying off 300 people at its Plano, Texas headquarters, making it the latest store chain to shed jobs in a tough environment for retailers.

Not good there is a rickle effect.  Oil industry will have a domino effect.  JC Penny has been in a lot of trouble.  Dallas thinks the oil down fall will not hurt them.  IT WILL.!
