  1. Anyone know what is going in at the old Teala's on W Dallas? Lots of activity. Looks like a complete interior demolition and refit... thx
  2. A few weeks ago some new fencing went up around the Regent Square owned site at Rochow & W Dallas. At the same time, the same contractor put fencing up around the now cancelled Monroe condo site on Rochow (now cancelled). I thought that was a strange coincidence so I checked HCAD and it looks like the Monroe site was purchased by the Regent Square folks in April 2017... Has anyone seen any site plans that show any Regent Square development on old Monroe site?
  3. Are you bidding lighting on the residential? Is this going to be the 2nd tower on Rochow? Asking because we live on W Clay and will be affected by construction...
  4. Just checked HCAD. Owned by Harris County Flood control district. Probably not a good sign for redevelopment!
  5. Does anyone know anything about this building? Such a cool site right on the bayou especially as this part of downtown gets cleaned up with the Sunset Coffee Building redevelopment. Walked by it today and it looks vacant (Quiznos was in there for years)... http://arch-ive.org/archive/1119-commerce/
  6. Anyone heard anything about this project? The site is starting to look derelict although construction equipment was still present the last time I drove by. Its going to turn in to an eye sore if it gets any worse...
  7. What drives me crazy is that we have freight trains running through extremely dense parts of Houston (even through downtown) and HSR ends up being too hard. I hope HSR happens and maybe even the NW mall area gets gentrified but a DT station would seem a better fit.
  8. Don't disagree that it is highly unlikely that the rail has stayed in place but interesting that the rails were left up in Dallas. Also, I wouldn't expect the downtown rail to be there but Washington Ave hasn't seen nearly as much attention as the downtown streets (not unlike McKinney in Dallas). A Washington Ave trolley would be a perfect compliment to what's going on in the area and maybe eventually extend to Montrose and Midtown (I can dream!)
  9. Not an advocate and not sure it will even work but...what about using the ROW for a hyperloop instead of HSR? As an interesting coincidence, Texas A&M is going to be hosting the competition to design the pods: https://engineering.tamu.edu/hyperloop I believe that the infrastructure would be much smaller than HSR so might cut down on the NIMBY folks. Also, much, much faster (How about 750 MPH!) http://www.statesman.com/news/business/spacex-picks-hyperloop-test-site-texas-am-to-host-/nmdSH/
  10. Check out this link: http://www.cg-publishing.com/railroads.jpg I lived in Uptown Dallas for a while and loved the McKinney street line. I was told that the reason that they were able to bring the McKinney line back was the discovery that the original tracks were still under the asphalt. Looking at the streetcar Map, I wonder if the tracks are still under Washington Ave? Has anyone heard if this has ever been checked? I wonder who would know? Greg
  11. Totally agree. We live in North Montrose and are at the Bayou every weekend. The water looks green as much as brown. I'm assuming it is based upon current lighting conditions but just generalizing that it is always brown just isn't correct (not that there is anything wrong with brown!)...
  12. I vote for getting rid of Preston between Bagby & Franklin....Pretty much duplicates Franklin and we could get rid of a bunch of concrete (street & bridge). Bring a little more green to downtown (enlarge Sesquicentennial park). And this could get done much quicker than the 45 re-route which is a really long way off (if they even approve)...
  13. We walked by the site this morning and there seems to be new survey stakes out (Allen Parkway & Dunlavy). I didn't remember seeing them previously. The stakes are also inside of the fence which I'll take as a good sign...
  14. I find it interesting how 7th St. dead ends into Yale (right where the Alexan is going). Is there any chance that 7th could be extended to bring traffic off of Yale over to Allston and beyond? The biking trail is there but there seems to be plenty of room for the street...
  15. Anyone hear anything new on this? There hasn't been any activity at the site...
