I ordered to go from this location about a month ago, and I got chicken fajitas w/ refried beans and rice, and I was honestly stunned by how bad the refried beans were. I'm not exaggerating or being hysterical when I say they literally tasted like the inside of my mouth after I've thrown up in the past. I couldn't even eat them. The rice was below average, not at all like I remember from any other Ninfa's location I've ever eaten at, which is at least 7 or 8 locations. The chips and salsa were okay, but nothing special. The chicken fajitas were about the same as I remember. They were pretty damn good and at least I was able to salvage a decent meal out of it. 

It's nothing at all like the original Ninfa's used to be, but even the original restaurant has changed *a lot* since Mama Ninfa passed away. They don't even carry the chocolate banana anymore. It's a real shame, too because Ninfa's used to be my favorite restaurant.

And just for the record, I'm not affiliated w/ Los Cucos or any other conflict of interest in any way, directly or through people I know. I really hope someone actually threw up in my refried beans because if that's what they've come to...yikes.

I'm glad they're working on this area. That part of the park may have been the hardest hit from the drought back in 2011, and quite frankly, it's depressing for me when I pass by knowing what was there before. I never saw the Transco Tower from that part of Memorial before they cut all those dead pines down, and now you can see a lot of Uptown from there.

I remember we were rationing water at the time, but to this day, I can't fathom letting so many trees in our prize park die like that. I always thought a city like New York would never let something like that happen to Central Park if a similar situation presented itself there. I don't know that, but that's just my feeling. I wish they'd put an irrigation system in place (assuming they don't have one already) in at least the most mature areas to prevent something like that from happening again.

That said, I am very impressed with what they've done so far on the other (north) side of Memorial and look forward to the finished product on the south side.

Man, those views from the top of this place are awesome, and the few gaps between skylines that are left will be filled in and extended nicely over the next few years. A decade or two from now, this view could very well show an uninterrupted skyline for almost 180 degrees from this roof.

Wow...that Upper Kirby/Greenway and Uptown/Galleria skyline shot from inside the unit is amazing. And to think our largest and 3rd largest skylines aren't even in that pic...

The views from around the 6th to 12th floors have always been around my favorite height for views in Houston. Just above the tree line, and still high enough for views like that.

That new ramp might be my new favorite view of the Houston skylines. Downtown has such a massive presence to the right. To the left is so much new infill inside the loop, and now there's basically a row of new 30-40 story buildings on the W. Alabama corridor between Montrose and Weslayan with Transco and the Galleria area looming in the background. A little building behind building action going on there. Also great views of the TMC, the Museum District and of course the density in Midtown you're talking about. Whatever comes after "beast mode," Houston is heading that direction.

About how far up it's going to go? 

I think from this angle, it'll go up about as far up as the tip of 609 Main. 609 Main will be slightly taller, but this building will be slightly closer from this angle and may actually appear taller. I mean, look at the difference between the Chase Tower and 1000 Louisiana from here. That's a hell of a contrast for a difference of 10 feet.

I think this was also done on a Saturday. It has a July 11 date in the description and it hasn't been this empty during the week, even during the pandemic.

The thing that stood out to me is how bad of shape so many of our streets are still in down there. Driving on Prairie or Caroline or a number of other streets downtown is like driving on the moon.

Not unlike the Simpsons episode where someone said "sticking together is what good waffles do," growing nicely is what good grass does.

Looks like there's also fencing on the TMC3 side of the driveway (Harvey fence in the first pic).

This area and the Energy Corridor have grown so much ever since the Memorial Hermann Tower and Katy Freeway were finished. Completely unrecognizable from 15 years ago.

Looks like someone started working then realized they were off today.

I think the building turned out well, but the podium is the focal point for the criticism. Glad it's going to be Cosmo'd, but kinda wish the Bowen was a mid rise so Arabella would stand out from all angles looking somewhat east. I liked the original renderings more, but I guess it's my fault that I don't have enough money to sculpt the world to my liking.

Renderings are rarely spot on, but with Rice University owning the land, I think it's safe to say this area won't get the Hotel Alessandra treatment.

I don't really care if residential towers come out of this project as much as the area turning into a destination. It'll take years, no doubt, but this part of town has so much potential and I'm not sure there are any better hands to be in than Rice's.

Best skyline in the U.S. outside of NYC and Chicago.

This is my favorite project in Houston right now.
