They have a lot of floor counts wrong, (like 39 floors for 2929 Weslayan, which they also have labeled as 2925 Weslayan) so I think it's safe to assume they have no idea what they are talking about.

Looks like they'll have a mat pour soon!

Maybe Swamplot knows something everyone else doesn't? They're probably rushing to assumptions, but it would be nice if it had a quick turn around like Hilcorp's tower. I do agree with Monarch that I love Nate though, his downtown updates are wonderful!

Good update on ROD, Triton! At least someone is staying on topic haha

This is great! Looks like September is the magic month for a lot of projects to start.

The proposals for Uptown just keep coming! It's going to have more density than downtown soon with all the 30 story towers going up or about to start! Gonna need more than just light rail with all the traffic though.

^ Agreed! This makes crane number 9 up downtown and we still have at least one more for this and 2 more for 609 Main. That's not including all the cranes about to go up for the multifamily highrises about to start!

If you look on the web cam there are already 6 pumper trucks set up around the site!

So does this mean the tower is really happening...
Nope it's another victim of the Eado Place apartments!

Yea it'd be interesting to find out how many millions of pounds of rebar they are putting down there.

super bowl 17, is now on it's way to houston.
You mean 51? 17 was here but some 30 years ago.
-
I agree with the location, but I wonder if any supertalls will ever be built in Houston. There's not much of that type of construction in the US outside of New York and Comcast in Philadelphia, is there? Maybe the economics don't really work.
There's also San Francisco and LA that have supertalls under construction, and Miami, Seattle, and Dallas have some proposed. There seems to be a lot of interest in them, and with our rumor mill running hot with whispers of 60+ story buildings I wouldn't be surprised if we got a supertall soon.

So the mat pour for this thing should be in the next couple weeks right?

Looks like there are a couple crane bases on site!

Thanks Nate! Looks like we got some whacky shaped cores goin on again.

The heavy rains last night turned this into a lake! Hopefully it doesn't slow them down too much, they have been making some really good progress recently.

Yet more dump trucks lined up this morning hauing off dirt. The Fannin/Capitol corner seems to have reached aspot here they ave leveled it off. I am still interested to see what they do with the old basement walls.
How far down do they have it in that corner? 30 feet or so? Seems like they have it as deep as they are going to go with only 2 levels below ground. Also it looked like they had assembled a large crawler crane or something on site.
-
From the webcam it looks like the tower portion is quite deep now! Seems like they are digging so fast that they have at least partially filled in the hole of the Texas building. Nate you think you could give us an update this week? Thanks!

I do not know if the design will be the same, but I heard similar layout
Maybe it'll be green also! Would be nice if they gave it another floor or 2 also, but regardless great work yet again on getting some great information!
This conversation should probably be split into a new downtown SkyHouse thread.

So how do we know this is a high rise rather than a 6-8 story midrise? Granted Swtsig probably already confirmed but had to edit his post for confidentiality reasons. Either way I'm sure Hines has a lot more in the pipeline as well. Based on Bisnow's development summit, it sounds like developers are going to try to squeeze 2-3 more years out of this boom.
-
I also went by the other day and I didn't see anything on the site but a pile of dirt. Looks like construction could start any day now! The high rise down Montrose is about the same stage too.
-
So, what's the word on this?
I looked a week or 2 ago and 1 house was gone and the other house was quickly being turned to rubble. They should at least have the lots cleared by now.

Property is now owned by Jones Lang LaSalle, the same firm developing Six Houston Center.
I believe they are only leasing 6 HC for Crescent, who is the owner of the Houston Center complex.

I think Hines leaked they were upping the number of floors from 41 last summer before announcing the number in October. I am not certain how much alteration to the structure (e.g. stronger foundation) would be needed for a floor increase of 4 floors. I'd think a slight height increase would pair nicely with a major tenant announcement at this point.
That makes so much sense. Our new source mentioned that the top 2 floors were steel(I doubt they would use Iron) and used for amenities it would seem to fit your explanation. That way they probably wouldn't have to rework the foundation too much and the new tenant can have private amenity space on the top of their new tower. Would be awesome if this were true! Just have to wait and see. Houston seems to have so many things in store, and they are just starting to happen!

I'm more surprised by Canada's dominance! 6 out of the top 10 and Toronto puts even NYC to shame.
