  1. Completely agree. Should follow Richmond from UT to the Beltway and connect with the Briar Lakes area and continue to Memorial City and work it's way west through the EC. Would be a perfect opportunity to do so.
  2. Ok, so You all remember the Buffalo Bayou 2025 Plan? Too bad that couldn't be incorporated with some sort of major botanical garden complex.
  3. You know, there is something along that caliber in a proposal called the Houston 2025 Project or something like that. Let me search and I will give a more definitive site.
  4. Yes to everything you said cloud713. I just feel Houston is ready and poised for HUGE national attention projects. It's like Hillary2016. It's hers to lose. NOW, it's Htown's to lose when so much seems to be going our way. (according to print media of course). So, a great botanical garden, a new theme park, iconic towers, museums, fountains, projects, cutting edge transport (I am thinking MagLev) etc, etc. Would be feathers in Houston's cap that would help it transcend to it's potential.
  5. Houston has several lovely gardens if you know where to look. But, we have become a self proclaimed World City! And it seems the rest of the world agrees to a certain extent. So, I am just throwing this out into the Universe and let the cards fall where they will. We need something akin to the Huntington Gardens and Library near Pasadena CA. A combination of local flora and fauna intermixed with say, three HUGE glass domes, pyramids, etc., to capture three different climate zones. It should be a mixture of enclosed spaces and open spaces. In addition, include some sort of public place, like a library, museum, spiritual center, etc. Thoughts?
  6. That last picture needs to be kept for posterity. Take that photo and then compare it to the same shot in 2024 , 2034, etc. I think we will be astounded how much DT is going to change in the next two decades. I think we are in a similar building boom circa 1977 through 1985, even if the towers are shorter, the impact on the DT skyline is going to be dynamic. As exasperated as I could be to see all of those parking lots in the FOURTH largest city in the US, I think of the potential; forward thinking all the way. AND I remind myself of LA. Have we all seen THEIR DT?! Concrete city as well. Sprawling cities such as ours, I feel, are experiencing a reincarnation of their urbanism. Let's see what HTown does with her reincarnation of urbanism.
  7. Something different for Houston is a plus in my book. Hoping each floor has two or more units, otherwise seems small. My sister just began her HoustonNow Tour company. I am always looking to help her add cool places to view on her routes around HTown.
  8. Stunning! Just came across this one. THIS is what I am lamenting about in other posts. Thanks development gods! . Please, other architects/developers follow suit. Less boxes, more creativity in HTown Architecture.
  9. Triton, from your mouth to the Developer god's ears! LoL
  10. Ok thanks. That makes more sense. I thought I was reading the data incorrectly. That's what happens when I attempt to multitask!
  11. Check out the Galveston-Houston Regional Forecast 2025. HTown is divided into zones. Zone 1 is DT and inner loop. Z2 is 610 to SH Tollway. Z3 is SH to GP. Z4 is GP to areas I am not familiar with. Z5 is even beyond that. According to projections, Z1 gains 200k, Z2 almost a million. Z3 1.3 mil. Z4 almost another million. Z5 like 200k. Thats a LOT more people in just 11 years. Is this a credible summation?
  12. Just as an aside, no matter what's it's called, Transco or Williams, no matter what angle from which it's photographed, that is one sexy tower. Houston's trophy tower on so many levels!
  13. Add a ten storey crown including restaurant, keep the balconies, thinking sort of Aqua like structure, photovoltaic glass, could be an amazing transformation!
  14. Excellent picture. I am constantly amazed at the venues HTown offers that many would never recognize as Houston.
  15. That pix of Allen's Landing should be in a coffee table book. Pick one of three- 1. Houston, Then, Now and Forever! Or 2. Off the Beaten Path, Houston TX. Or 3 strangely haunting areas in Houston. Whichever, publish that work of photographic art!
  16. Plumber2, I think it was that way because of the Safeway domination of the store. Safeway was at one time owned by Mormons who, of course, preached against alcohol, tobacco and even caffein at one time. Perhaps that is the reason.
  17. Thank you Infinite Jim. I like that very much. I was a bit disappointed with the seemingly 30 something storey glass ceiling not being shattered (considering that downtown boom is becoming a catch phrase, and the last time that phrase was used HTown was getting 50 something storey towers) BUT, I have embraced the infill, and I really like this one. I am content to view 20, 30 and 40 storey towers rising for the next decade IF we get at least one 60+ by 2020 or so.
  18. What I mean is that I saw some early stuff via page 3 or so, then I sort of lost the plot.
  19. Yes, seriously. Either provide a pix or send me to the post page to refresh my memory. Sarcasm is wasteful. Thanks.
  20. Could we have a rendering for this? Some of the prior posts confused me as to what the tower will look like. Thanks everyone.
  21. Lol. I usedto watch late night rebar and cement pour. Anyway, what was the white stuff at the base?
  22. Yes, to the above post. I can almost experience it. But, not to sound too backwater, is it just me or does this seem a bit pricey ($40 mil) for a 30k sf structure which won't go over 16 ft in height? (btw, kudos, though, for respecting the surrounding environment). I like the design. Seems very Frank Lloyd Wright-ish. Just, hmmm, 40 mil? I need some convincing it's worth that much. What am I missing?
