  1. Side note, I thought it would make more sense for it to be next to the other ones. I know that Duo has closed. And there's still that empty lot next to that animal place and that corner store (which I think should be gone)
  2. I don't know where else to post this. But I didn't realize that Houston was getting a Crossroads consignment store! I love the resale shops on Westheimer. I was wondering when was this going to open and also, I looked it up on Google maps and it's showing an address of 3217 Montrose. Which is that building they're renovating next to the smoothie king.
  3. I didn't get a good picture as I was driving to the galleria. I was going to snap a better picture when I was on my way back home, but the lights were off by that time.
  4. Check out the light show tonight! Just drove by and there's this weird Y chromosome lighting on the building! Houston's finally getting some towers that will brighten its skyline!
  5. @HTown Man true! I often times compare Uptown Dallas to Midtown Houston because I feel that they are the most urban parts of the city. I think Midtown should add more national retail stores that will attract people (think a development like West Village in Dallas). Because I remember when I used to live in Denton, me and my friends would drive almost an hour just to have dinner in west vil. My FAVORITE part of midtown (and one of my favorites in the whole city) is that bagby/west gray Post development. I love how urban, inviting, pedestrian friendly and landscaped it is. I don't think Midtown is that far behind, but like u said, the development is scattered throughout that neighborhood. They have to get rid of the few remaining pieces of riff raff (greyhound station/that ghetto mcdonalds) and add more destination type developments.
  6. Tillman is planning a hotel in that space next to their headquarters. I believe there is a topic somewhere on here mentioning that space. Merge if needed. http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2015/04/25262/#32380101=0
  7. That's going to be an apartment. That used to be the parking lot to the Cafe Adobe that they demolished.
  8. So I'm back home here in Houston visiting family and this building is going to be MASSIVE!!! I don't know if it's halfway done or just a little over, but if you double its size, I would go on and say that it will be the Transco of Greenway Plaza. (Even though it's technically not in GP). I damn near caused a wreck admiring its beauty. This is the reason why I usally park my car at a friend's and have them drive me around when I visit. Also, as I was enjoying my birthday weekend here, I noticed- HOUSTON HAS GROWN!!! Where are all of these people coming from? I asked my friends if there was some convention going on that weekend or something. Excuse the excessive use of capitilizaed letters and exclamations, I just LOVE THIS CITY!!!
  9. I live in Dallas now and they're slowly losing tenants. Saks just left and Nordstrom's days are numbered. They're replacing Saks with a Belks. As mentioned above, the outside is really nice. The neighborhood surrounding the mall is getting worse and it battles competition from its neighbors to the north and NorthPark to the south of it. Side note: I cant wait to move back to Houston. (sigh)
  10. They should really gut that strip center. That's prime real estate. A mini CityCentre would fit that area.
  11. Well, on June 3-6th they're planning on inviting local graffiti artists to work their magic on the center. It should be pretty cool. Here's what they have to say: "While there are those that want to paint the town red, others prefer to use the entire spectrum of colors! Such will be the case at GreenStreet as the popular downtown dining and entertainment center prepares to experience a metamorphosis of color during GreenStreet Graffiti, a special artistic event held onsite, June 3 – 6. Come see art-in-the-making when local graffiti artists, Gabriel Prusmack, Kelyne Reis, Wiley Robertson and the acclaimed Aerosol Warefare Gallery’s GONZO247, transform the property’s monochromatic walls into a vibrant mix of bold colors and graphic art! Throughout the four-day event, art aficionados and downtown hipsters are encouraged to stop by and interact with the artists as they work. And just as the last puff of aerosol is applied, the entire community will be invited back onsite for a special unveiling party filled with festive music and free entertainment, Thursday, June 6 from 5 – 8 p.m." Link: Facebook Event
  12. How did this one turn out? Last time I was in Houston, I had to exit, make a u-turn and drive back around just to admire it! That was back in mid-February! Aside from large multi-use developments (CityCentre, River Oaks District, BLVD Place, etc) and high rises, developments off the freeway are my favorites! It helps with the character of a city.
  13. WOW!!!! I love those last two pictures! Where is the location of that courtyard looking area in the last photo?
  14. This is one of my favorite projects right now. Along with Astoria. But the real reason I wanted to comment is this photo. Westheimer Road with not a single car in the shot! Impressive!
  15. I'm confused, too. So, the McDonald's they're building is what...just being moved a little from the original and sports a different look? Now what's to come of Astoria? is it going to be built AROUND the new McDonalds or what? I was on board with this project til maybe a couple of weeks ago, then I got lost. I initially thought they were going to move the McD's down the street.
  16. I think the fact that they have a large fixture in the Galleria (next to the Starbucks) encouraging shoppers to lease with them could be helping. This and the 2929 Weslayan are my favorites. The art deco architecture of this building is bringing me to life!
  17. I know that this is completely off topic, and I tried finding it, but can't. I figured since it's gonna be in the same area, I'd just post here. What ever happened with that Astoria project? It looked so good and promising. They even had the leasing trailer out. http://astoriahouston.com/index.html
