No, they don't have the funding for it yet but they are actively pursuing grants for it according to one of the printed handouts given at the meeting.

😔 I just hope this doesn't turn in to another Westheimer situation. The proposed improvements would be incredible to see. I already can't get over the nice wide sidewalks here off Shepherd near my apartment.

  2. Yikes so the city is going to demo 901 Main!? That sucks. I was really hoping that building was salvageable. I wish the blight removal applied to that other convenience store on Main St that has paneling covering a beautiful façade. It would be great for the city to work with the owner to help finance the restoration of that property.

Yeah, that'll definitely do it.  Nothing like a local BRT line to elevate a city's ranking largely measuring trade and degree of globalization.

Appreciate the sarcasm and condescending response. I was genuinely asking because I don't fully understand how they measure this year to year. Thanks though 👍

Even though these new buildings are nice, why is this view still ugly? Maybe the lack of landscape?

I think it's also a lack of infrastructure. Proper drainage and nice wide sidewalks would go a long way in improving the aesthetic.

We dropped a level back to Beta+. We were Alpha- for a couple of years 😔 Philadelphia and Seattle surprised me as Beta cities. Boston jumped from Beta+ to Alpha-.

What could be the causes of this? Are Austin and Dallas having a greater impact on the entire state and more? Will the new transit lines help us jump even higher?

The sidewalk in lieu fee for a heated reaction from me and the rest during the October meeting of the Acres Home mobility study.
I think it's stupid that in the age of hyperinflation the city thinks it can manage a common fund and leverage economies of scale to get a sidewalk built when a developer decides it's prohibitively expensive for them. We all told the planning department they need to make it mandatory, acres home needs sidewalks.

Yep because all that's going to happen is developers are going to make excuses not to build sidewalks

Looks good. Other bike sharing programs like citibike thrive when they work well with public transpotation.

I am glad the officials clearly know the limitations of docked bike sharing. As reported:

”The existing system is used mostly recreationally, bike sharing officials have said, with locations such as Herman Park and Buffalo Bayou Park along Sabine Street as the most heavily-used stations. “ "Metro’s chief financial officer, said the current system, when fully operational, costs about $80,000 a month, with only a fraction of that coming from the rental costs or annual memberships." "To trim costs, 75 of the 153 kiosks were turned off in November, largely reducing the system to its core around downtown, Midtown and Montrose."

For those who posted in this forum arguing if BCycle can be used cost-effectively as a mainstream commute option, this is a good read.

I guess my only fear is how much they are going to cut the system down. Right now about half the stations are shut down.
