  1. Looks like work is getting close to wrapping up. See my post above.

    per their website:

Ahh thank you man. This is awesome news! We can't underestimate how great this is for downtown, especially as a nice casual spot downtown to watch the game.

  2. I noticed the turning lane at Smith and Capitol. And I noticed people turning in front of the train a few streets before that as well, as if they are either afraid to turn on the tracks or they are confused how the turning lane works. And thanks for letting me know they are running the trains thru rush hr, I've just never seen them go past Main during that time. Not saying they don't run at all.

  3. I'm curious as to why there is a turning lane next to both of these lines downtown. Like isn't that asking for an accident to happen? I totally get having the turning lane on the tracks which is cool but not next to the tracks. Am I missing something here? And I also noticed that during rush hour the purple and green line don't run trains all the way through. I wonder if there is fear of a collision.

  4. Hahaha sorry guys... I gotta say that I was very impressed... my gf and I parked at the Macy's garage and did some walking up and down Post Oak... we checked out the new Whole Foods and ate... then we caught the 33 back to West. and Post Oak and then caught the 82 to Montrose... did some antique shopping... then caught the 82 to Midtown at Smith and Elgin... from there we caught the train downtown and watched the Stros till about 8ish... caught the train back to midtown, just because... and the 82 back to the garage... I gotta say that overall the buses were very frequent and great on travel time. The longest we waited was about 7 mintues. I'm def considering taking the bus more often. Still not familiar with other routes but I will try others soon and get a feel for things.

  5. Started eastbound lane closures this week. The "feeder" east of Taft is partially closed, and with just one main lane closed from Montrose to Taft, the light at Taft caused a backup almost to Dunlavy.

I'm still very weary of adding lights to the Parkway and maintaining current loads. I think the impacts to travel time will be much larger than predicted.

I say this with all respect, but who cares if travel time increases? This city has bottle fed motorists for so long that we worry about travels times on Allen Parkway. People speed up and down that road and completely ignore pedestrians. If travel time is an issue, I have an answer, wake up earlier. Cities are built on people, not cars, and it's about time this road was dedicated to the safety of people trying to cross it.

  6. The Upper Kirby traffic alert said Colquitt will be closed west of Kirby while they bury the utilities for this project starting Monday. I'm stoked about how Kirby will look when these buildings are built. Too bad the Picos and Office Depot etc didn't get smashed in this last boom.

While I agree about those businesses, I don't think they are a horrendous eyesore. I do agree I wish the Pico's was another midrise or highrise. It would def add to the density of the area. I would rather see that little plaza where Taco Cabana is at be transformed in to a more open, urban park area.

  7. I quit listening to 610 especially after this show. Like I get the dry humor of B-Straw, but it's not very funny and Pauly G is beyond annoying to listen to. It's like He tries too hard to be funny as well. Plus all 610 talks about is the Texans. I love my Texans but when other teams in Houston are doing well, they give them a good 10 mins of talk time and then it's back to the Texans. I like the mid-day show but the morning drive with Nick and John is just beyond terrible. I'm a 790 listener now and they are so much better all around.
