  1. Allison Cook of the Chronicle just reviewed Christian's Tailgate Downtown. You can read the review on chron.com, but it's not very good unfortunately. She graded their burger a D but said good things about the onion rings.

    Allison Cook is an idiot.

  2. Maybe you need to look at the renderings closely again. Its pretty much the building as shown. The mesh is what wasnt delivered as promised! That doesn't make or break the building though lol Sheesh. Lets not overract here.

I mean I'm not upset or anything. I guess I was just expecting more transparent walls to view the activity inside. Either way the building is awesome. Our design team does the same thing with their renders, in that they make certain areas semi transparent to get an idea of the inside.

  3. ^^^ wonderful and exciting addition to the MIDTOWN district. however, what happened to the sparkle of this development?  why does it suddenly seem so very drab and dull?  i think that the earlier illustrations depicted a much more exciting exterior design.  what happened?

I was just about to say the same thing! I thought the structure was going to be more open, more glass, etc.

  4. Went today with 6 co-workers. It was very busy; ordered at bar got our burgers in 10-15 minutes. Everyone loved the place, clean, TV's were on, parked one block away. Walked to the Chase Tower afterwards which probably burned one onion ring off.

This place doesn't need any luck or help - it's going to do great business. Plus it's right there off main, looks further on a map, walking outside you can easily see Hooneymooners, ect.

Good to go. Wish CT all the best.

Are you referring to The District?

  5. There's only about 50ish days a year you can count on a bar bringing in people specifically because of sports, whether they are a sports bar, or just a bar with TVs.

yeah, there's 160something baseball games, football weekends (and weeknights) for 3 months, basketball, and all the college sports as well, but bringing in reliable business?

you can count on all the weekends in football season plus post season. you can count on march madness. you can count on basketball finals (and playoffs if home team is doing well, maybe some games leading up to as well). world series, and baseball post season really doesn't have that big of a draw (unless your team is in it), and soccer isn't reliable unless you market specifically to that crowd.

they need to have a draw, something to bring people in on off sports nights. trivia, karaoke, etc. or have really good, unique food.

You do realize that all the other locations have done extremely well? And it's not just about sports, but good food at a good price, a place to go have a good beer, and that's not all... think about all the events this place has throughout the year along with karaoke

  6. New Orleans is just as hot as Houston and people walk around there every day all day. I was just there not too long ago and no one seemed to care how hot it was. Houston just needs more walkable and pedestrian friendly districts. It's easier to complain about the heat when you are walking by 5 blocks worth of parking lots as compared to stores, shops and cafes. We will get there.

    Nola is hotter than Houston
