nmainguy takes his Exacto and cuts Plano out of the map; inserts it in Idaho. Replaces it with new city for evacuees.
Could you do that for all of Dallas for me? Please!

I encourage all to state why they voted the way they voted.

Can any one tell me why EDI is looked at so unfavorably? Other then how ugly the back end of The Mercer Condominiums is. I just hope some of the cool architecture features don't get washed out of the plans. From what i can see from the pictures the facade of the building will be pleaseing to the eye if not too ornate. at least it looks like it will be aestheticly desirable.

This is an old topic, someone please combine this with the Town and Country Demo thread further down. Thanx.
I know! It's annoying to me too when topics get started in the wrong area.

Mixed use?
U really are not asking that? Mixed use is when a project will be built with multipurpose as in ground floor retail, above office space and/or residential. if the galleria added residential space it would no longer just be a mall it would be a tiny city that could be called "mixed use" the galleria already has office, retail, entertainment, Hotel, restaurants, and service oriented businesses like Nail shops. I think the galleria could use a police substation if it does not already have one

The city of New Orleans thrives because of the tourist industry. I just wanted to know if you too long to go back as soon as possible. I would like to go back so that I may enjoy the fun and celebration. Aside from the donations being given for the evacuees and the regions communities what New Orleans will need even more is our tourist dollars. I would like to know what you plan to do for the city of New Orleans after it is rebuilt.

I was glad to see that the Southern Decadence Parade prevailed, and a few diehard people, about 24 people kept the nearly 40 year old tradition alive this last Labor Day. If you don

Speaking of dry cleaners, this is off topic, but the corner of Taft and West Gray is becoming a Brand-spankin-new dry cleaners!
Oh Joy!
On the bright side in my opinion the buildings architecture goes great with the new homes going up in the surrounding neighborhood

Not to pick on you, eelimon, but that is called intermodal transportation. A person who arrives via bus, then gets on the LRT or other buses, is the way it was designed to be.
I understand that Midtown residents wish Greyhound would go away, and one day it might...to North Main. But, until then, at least you have another transit option.
I know that Redscare I just cant stand that a negative effect of this was slow traffic right there. I cant stand it!
I cant wait for it to be moved
They could at least move the front door of the Greyhound so that it faces Fannin St this way the traffic on the one lane running alongside the rail can run smoothly.

What are the plans for the area where the mall will have once been..
I thought they were going to reuse the building is the NM the onlyu building that is being torn down or is the whole building being torn down? I thought that they were going to build a tech center there.

if it is the same sign, it has been there for a while.
i've almost given up hope on central square...
edit - it is crappy inside - literally - we're talking major interior renovation/demolition...
i could see after getting an idea of the interior why it isn't too appealing...
I drive by this building where this sign is now posted and I can tell you this is a new sign. The sign is now at the corner of Gray and Milam. I always thought that central square would make a great location for loft apartments. Plus the space on the ground level looks like it is screaming to become primed real estate for mix-use.
However, this probably won't work until the Greyhound station is moved. The Greyhound Bus Station is a hub for recently released prison inmates from Huntsville. Plus if many you did not already know, but the fact is that cities up north during the winter ship their homeless on Greyhound to cities in the south so that they don't become victims to old time winter and die. Lets face Greyhound is the "preferred" mode of intrastate and interstate travel for the have-nots.
I am just ranting because I think it was poor planning when they decided to place the Metro rail line just outside the front door of the Greyhound station. Every time I drive down Main St. into the downtown there is always some jerk driving really slow like their getting ready to mow down Greyhound patrons on a drive-by-shooting. It really drives me crazy when the light is green and the car in front of me decided it is time to stop and unload passengers in front of the Greyhound. I really am convinced that these people can

Please, no rumors in this section of the forum. If it can't be documented, don't post it here.
There's enough problems with communication in this disaster. Misinformation will make it worse.
I only called it a rumor because I heard it from a VA representative who read it in a government intranet blogg at his job, but I had not heard it in the news. However we all know that the media does not always report everything and some of the time it is not true. I did get this emailed to me and I wanted to share it with everyone here:

CNN reported today that 12 nations have pledged aid to the U.S.
Yesterday they reported the number was four.
Looks like more and more are coming on board.
And just because you didn't see something doesn't mean it wasn't reported.
I heard a rumor that President W Bush turn down the aid offered by other natuions today. Is this true?
Well if it is true I hope that most of the residents of NOLA decide to stay. This will help sway the balance of the political chemistry here in Texas from Republican to Democrat
I found a great source for those who would like to see satellite images of the devastation at this site: http://www.nola.com/hurricane/photos/

Ok Ok DOwntown's evrything inside The Loop and is becoming everything inside The Belt.
I guess y'all were right. Plastic is a Moron.
-
Plastic is this topic just a joke?
I will support all points of view. However, when everyne is calling you a moron I have to start to wonder if they are close minded or maybe they are right.
-
I live near the rail line and I consider myself luck now that the price of gas is going up
-
I hear there is a clearance sale at all the Wal-mart's in NOLA.
