Could be neat! I really like the decision to put the library/tall windows on the corner of Gray/Taft. Good natural lighting for the students and it kind of looks cool from the street.

So which rendering will be the final result? the first or second rendering on this thread?

Corner of Grey/Baldwin right across from Front Porch Pub.
Same building as Post Midtown

That sucks, i liked that place.
But coffee groundz/apature were the same owner I think... they just remodeled /rebranded it I believe..

decent project, Just wish they had some street retail...

I was curious on what they were doing with that tract of land across from the main build. i thought it was just staging but from kdog's picture and from what i remember last week, it looks like they may actually be building something there.
I think they are building something on that mini-lot. Phase IV.
But what that picture is, Im pretty sure it's a mock up for phase III (its been there since the start of the project). 2 different brick schemes, different paint schemes, insulation installation procedure, no foundation, etc....

I feel a bit bad for that little house thats going to remain on the corner.... Very Disneys' Up

Dumb question: I drove by there recently but it looks like they built a second parking garage North of the main project. It was roughly at the block bounded by Victor, Cushing, and Cleveland... Is that Post Midtown's doing as well or a separate project?
-
I could be wrong, but from what I've seen so far, I don't think so.
I asked the leasing office and they stated there will be retail on grey for phase III.
The little lot deemed phase IV will have no retail.

very nice rendering. I'd like to see the day time shot for color purposes instead of inundated with flood lights

Not a fan of this structure - reminds of 1970's glass curtain designs...

I'd like someone with design/engineering knowledge to explain to me WHY this pedestrian/cycling bridge is so massive. The similar-functioning new bridge over Buffalo Bayou doesn't have this one's height or general size. Is this simply for aesthetics, or is there a needed engineering reason behind this?
Not that I mind the design - I actually think the renditions are quite beautiful - but I'm just wondering if the reason is aesthetic or required physically...
Based on just images alone, it looks like the only reasoning between the two bridge types is architectural. I believe the span, and elevation for the the buffalo bayou pedestrian bridge is longer and higher respectively than the Brays Bayou Bridge. That being said, the loads and spans associated for both these bridges are so low that (to an extent) the only legit worry is cost... because buffalo bayou appears longer, it may have been less feasible from the cost standpoint to do some crazy architectural structure. Finally, from an engineering standpoint the Brays bridge pictured above is kind of a silly design, but thats why architects make the big bucks compared to us structural engineers.
Also, just to clarify I do Power Plant/Oil Refinery Civil work--- so my knowledge may somewhat be limited.

I saw pictures of the interior of it on an urban exploring website maybe 6 months ago. It was actually in pretty decent shape. A good spread of 1950's-1980's interior decorations... I'll see if I can find it when Im not at the office supposed to be doing work.
