  2. HBJ reports today that ExxonMobil plans to build a new very large campus in Spring (west of I-45 at the point where the Hardy Toll Road intersects with I-45). The plan is to consolidate pretty much everything except for the downtown operations. Also reports a rumor that at least parts of the Refining & Marketing HQ operations may move from Virginia.
  3. i saw this post over on city-data and thought it was interesting.. is this a sign/confirmation that Exxon is finally moving their HQ to Houston? Today, 08:55 PM LoveDontHate Junior Member befriend Join Date: Sep 2014 1 posts Reputation: 10 Quitting job because Exxon is moving Hi there, I am a mother with 3 kids. My husband works at Exxon HQ, which is in Irving, TX. Exxon is planning to move their workers to Houston, including my husband. I have lived in Irving for my whole life and I wouldn't think of moving. My husband really love his job and I don't like living in Houston because of the humidity, hurricane threats, and traffic. My kids are attending the finest school in Irving, and is Houston ISD a good school district to put my child into. I am convincing my husband to quit this job, and find another one. Should we move to houston. Or my husband quit his job and stay here?
  4. My grandfather worked for the Humble Oil Co from 1927-1972. He worked for them in Longview, TX until 1960 when they transfered him to Houston. His son, my dad, took these photos of the Humble Oil Bld construction on 800 Bell between 1960-1963. Notice the downtown YMCA in the background:

  6. In a huge win for environmental groups, a federal judge has ordered ExxonMobil to pay nearly $20 million for spewing millions of pounds of excess air pollution from its Houston-area industrial facilities. The Sierra Club and Environment Texas sued the energy giant in 2010, alleging that over a five-year period it had emitted more than 8 million pounds of hazardous chemicals and other contaminants from its sprawling Baytown complex than is allowed by state and federal law and clean air permits. The 3,400-acre complex about 25 miles east of Houston houses a refinery and chemical, olefins and plastics plants. 7. Anyone work for Exxonmobil in operations? I took the test in Beaumont and passed.
  8. I just ran across this: Culture Map Basically, they are pondering giving the building over to the city of Houston. Would this be a good thing or not?
  9. I looked for any posting on this and did not find it. I have been tracking this for a long time, so I thought I would post an article I wrote this morning based on a news media release from Exxon, past discussions, an employee notice and my experience in the oil industry. It has been a while since I posted here. There is a companion article which was anticipating the announcement. Exxon was aware of the article and several others like it. I asked them for information and they declined, esp since they were about to make it public. ExxonMobil announces consolidation of upstream and related services to a new campus just south of The Woodlands
  10. My office window looks out on this building, and I just noticed that construction elevators and curtains are going up around the 1st few floors. Does anyone know the details? Is it cosmetic, or are they going to put a new skin on the place? Please say it won't be changed. Love it or hate it, I think it's a shining example of early 60's Houston.
