The decision comes just months after employees moved into the upper floors of its namesake tower. The job search engine moved into the top 10 floors of Indeed Tower in August — which it is now calling its co-headquarters — five years after signing a lease. But now, the company is advertising three floors for sublease, according to a property brochure. The move comes at a time when Austin has more space on the sublease market than ever before, and office landlords are struggling to fill towers — both new and old. One contributing factor is that many employers are struggling to figure out how to best use office space in the wake of the pandemic as more roles become hybrid or entirely remote."

  5. I'm looking at TMC's website and I see only a handful of billable surface lots that remain. Looking back at historic photos of the medical center, these surface lots get developed into tall buildings. One day, the TMC "M" surface lot will house a building. Just depends when they run out of space and need to build something. Even a parking garage would be more beneficial than a surface lot. It would hold more cars.
  6. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2022/08/02/one-sixty-one-friendswood-mixed-use-district-hotel.html Banfield Properties of Friendswood is planning a small mixed-use development featuring a 4-story "boutique" hotel, 4 story apartment building and a restaurant/event space with a parking garage. The site looks to be the land bound by S. Friendswood Drive at W. Shadowbend Ave and Laurel Drive at W. Willowick Ave. Three existing structures on site are being renovated for retail and will be included as part of the overall development Page is the architect.
  7. Surprised I couldn't find a thread about this specific campus - it has grown pretty quickly in the past few years. The campus opened in 2010 as the UTMB Victory Lakes Specialty Care Center. It was rebranded to the current name in 2015. MD Anderson opened an outpatient hospital and treatment center in a connected building that was completed in 2018. A separate medical office building, 7-story garage and skybridge that connect to the hospital were completed in 2018 as well. A 5-story patient tower was completed in 2020. It has been engineered for expansion up to 12 stories in the future.
  8. I remember reading an old MDA master plan that said the ROC building at Braeswood & Holcombe will eventually be redeveloped. The single story building sits on such a high profile corner that there is much better opportunities here. This address and corner once housed a high-rise multifamily/hotel development called Park Towers Apartments. Hopefully something tall again rises soon! I stopped by this weekend and took a picture of the street sign.
  9. I wanted to create an appreciation thread for EYP. They've done a lot of work in the medical center and have recently designed HMH's Centennial Tower. I believe WHR Architects was merged with EYP as well. EYP has worked a lot with the Texas Medical Center AKA TMC. https://www.eypae.com/
  10. Noticed this completed development on Medistar's website. https://medistarcorp.com/completed/ Completed in 2010, Medistar developed St. Luke's Sugar Land Hospital and Medical Plaza as a five-story, 220,000 square foot hospital. The hospital is complemented by a five-story, 125,000 square foot medical office building featuring a linear accelerator to support MD Anderson Cancer Center, a major tenant in the MOB.
  11. The Texas Children's Hospital Meyer Building was named after Leopold L. Meyer. Noticed a small office remodel this week for 1919 South Braeswood Blvd.
  12. Somewhat confused. There are a couple of FAA filings. One is for an '80, 4-story MOB Archive Search Results Form 7460-1 for ASN 2021-ASW-5631-OE (faa.gov) Another is for a structure, not noted as a garage nor crane tied to the same project and timeline but '152 Proposed Case for TX: 2021-ASW-6823-OE (faa.gov) Hadn't seen a mention of a new MOB at the Greater Heights campus from anything previously. Timeline appears to be December of this year to January 2023 in either case. Based on the maps, it looks like it should be on the west side of the complex.
  13. UMP is composed of two medical office buildings. Addresses are 7501 Fannin and 7505 Fannin. I always liked University Medical Plaza 1. Great addition to the southern part of the TMC. Wanted to add to our TMC database and include it. http://www.camproperties.net/properties.html https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/7501-Fannin-St-Houston-TX/21412321/
  14. Looked for topic about this but the search didn't come up with anything. The parking garage is being demolished.
  15. This is the shopping center with the Randall’s at Bellaire & Bissonnet. https://s25.q4cdn.com/658894972/files/doc_presentations/2020/11/3Q20-Roadshow-(Nareit).pdf A planned multi-story mixed-use redevelopment is in the works. Wonder if they’re signaling that the Randall’s will be closing, making the shopping center obsolete.

  17. Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital begins expansion https://communityimpact.com/houston/bay-area/impacts/2019/12/24/houston-methodist-clear-lake-hospital-begins-expansion/ Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital, 18300 St. John Drive, Nassau Bay, on Dec. 17 broke ground on its expansion. The hospital plans to create a new six-story medical office adjacent to the hospital. The 150,000-square-foot facility will provide space for physicians, orthopedics and sports medicine. The building should be complete by the end of February 2021.

  20. Dear Students, Colleagues and Friends, This is a defining moment in the history of UTHealth. At 10 a.m. this morning, the John P. McGovern Foundation announced a transformational $75 million gift to our Medical School and McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics. Through 14 separate endowments, this gift will help us bolster medical training, will provide full scholarships to outstanding students and will support scientific discovery and innovation. The gift will also enhance programs at the McGovern Center, which was established in 2004 with another generous donation from the McGovern Foundation. Dr. McGovern embraced the philosophy of Sir William Osler, M.D., whose approach included patient-centered, compassionate care and appreciation of medical history and the humanities. The center serves all six of the university’s schools. In honor of the largest gift in our history, and the principles modeled by this great physician and his wife, UTHealth Medical School will be renamed theJohn P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical School. The formal short name will be the McGovern Medical School.

Groundbreakings will take place between now and summer 2014 on the projects. “Fort Bend continues to grow in size and population and our patients are seeking an ever broader range of sophisticated medical and surgical treatments close to home,” said Dr. Marc L. Boom, Houston Methodist CEO. The expansion kicks off in November with groundbreaking on a 9,600-square-foot emergency care center on SH 6 in Missouri City between the Sienna Plantation and Riverstone communities. The facility is scheduled to open in summer 2014 and will house 10 treatment rooms and the latest technology in diagnostic imaging equipment. A new patient tower will be added between the Sweetwater Pavilion and Main Pavilion on the Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital campus, adding 104 beds. The tower will add intensive care beds and medical-surgical beds with space remaining for future expansion. Groundbreaking will take place in the summer of 2014 with completion in 2016. The hospital is also building a facility for Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. The practice will move to a new 60,000-square-foot building on the corner of U.S. 59 and Sweetwater Boulevard.
  23. I often wonder how long it will take before the Med Center begins to influence more development south of the bayou (even along South Main). They already have smaller offshoots like TIRR Memorial at S. Braeswood and Kirby, but w/out room to grow north due to the park, I would think chunks of land along S. Braeswood (or the rundown apt complexes near Reliant) could eventually turn to something that better serves the Med Center.
