  1. H-E-B buys Waller County land for distribution campus - Houston Business Journal (bizjournals.com) "The company announced April 25 that it closed on nearly 500 acres in Waller County for the project. The Hempstead site is south of U.S. Highway 290 and east of Highway 6, roughly 50 miles northwest of downtown Houston."
  2. Montgomery to prepare feasibility study for H-E-B site near Hwy. 105, FM 2854 | Community Impact "H-E-B owns a 32.42-acre tract of land at the southeast corner of Hwy. 105 and FM 2854, according to the agenda packet. The grocer recently contacted the city about proceeding with the development of that site. The feasibility study will analyze the city’s water, wastewater and drainage systems to see if any upgrades or utility extensions are needed."
  3. https://newsroom.heb.com/h-e-b-opens-companys-largest-ecommerce-fulfillment-center-in-katy/ "H-E-B has opened a new eCommerce fulfillment center (eFC) in Katy, a project that further expands the retailer’s commitment to integrate innovative technologies that drive omnichannel growth and provide a more convenient and better shopping experience for Texans. At more than 100,000 square feet in size, it is the largest eCommerce fulfillment center for the company, coming in at twice the size of previous facilities. The Katy eFC is H-E-B’s first stand-alone location at 2102 Elrod Rd., which will support H-E-B Curbside and Home Delivery orders across the Houston area. Building on the multi-format retailer’s longstanding presence in the area, the move reinforces the H-E-B’s commitment to serve more customers in this growing part of the state."
  4. https://storebrands.com/h-e-b-debuts-branded-merchandise Late last year, HEB joined the pantheon of well-known Texas brands offering merchandise reflecting their products and the store itself. I hadn't heard about it until I actually visited the Plus! store in Victoria and another one in Corpus Christi at Saratoga and Staples. I didn't see it at a few of the other ones I'd visited in the Houston area or the Plus! store in Bellmead, just north of Waco. Got a few things from the one in Victoria as we headed out of town. Darn near got a pair of the shoes they had since it's one of the few places that I've seen offer my size - novelty design or not. Was wondering if there were any locations with that display that have been set up locally or if there are any coming. HEB's site doesn't seem to indicate which locations have it.
  5. Surprised to see this didn't already have a topic as it's been in development for a good while. https://www.weitzmangroup.com/properties/manveltownctrretail https://www.manveltownctr.com/WCMM/ Latest word from the city is the remaining permitting issues have been sorted out and HEB's building should start going up soon. The development has just been doing earthwork and underground up to this point.

  7. Fidelis breaks ground on HEB-anchored shopping center in Willis community https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2021/09/07/fidelis-market-willis-shopping-center-broke-ground.html Fidelis, a Houston-based commercial real estate company, has broken ground on The Market at Willis Shopping Center. The project is at the southeast corner of Interstate 45 and FM 1097 in Willis, north of Conroe. Construction on the first phase of the shopping center, anchored by an H-E-B, has already started. The grocery store will occupy more than 110,000 square feet, according to Fidelis' marketing brochure for The Market at Willis. The Market at Willis is part of a new 510-acre master-planned community on the former Moran Ranch land. Houston-based Satya Inc. and Stolz Partners of Alpharetta, Georgia, teamed up to purchase the tract in Montgomery County in 2019, and Fidelis bought its initial 31.6 acres for the shopping center shortly thereafter. Fidelis later purchased two adjacent tracts, bringing the future shopping center to 69.7 acres. Phase one is expected to create over 200,000 square feet for retail, restaurants and service tenants. So far, restaurants include Crust Pizza at 3,000 square feet, Mod Pizza at 2,800 square feet and Akashi Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar at 6,000 square feet, according to the brochure. Retailers include the Texas Hair Team at 1,600 square feet, Great Clips at 1,200 square feet and Community Dental Partners at 2,000 square feet.
  8. Noticed this registered with TDLR. I was hoping it was on Holmes road further south by UT's land. Great development nonetheless!

  10. Not surprising. It would only have made sense to try to re-open it if they could double-decker it and that might not have been worth the investment. From discussions on Next Door it seems quite a few homeowners in Meyerland are hoping for a Fema buyout offer and the population of the neighborhood is probably going to decline. A thread on Next Door today says a new 85,000 sq. ft. location with Kosher bakery and deli will be announced by the end of the month. Another poster says the deal is not final but close. That's 'new' and 'to be announced' so presumably it's something other than the Bellaire store. I'll be interested to know where they'll find that kind of space close to Meyerland. When the store was closed after the Memorial Day floods in 2015 posters on ND said HEB would have abandoned the store then if they had not already known they'd be shutting the Bellaire store for months, leaving the nearest HEB stores on Buffalo Speedway, off 288 in Pearland, on Hwy 6 in Missouri City and Hwy 6 @ 90 in Sugar Land. Another post on ND claimed HEB was trying to get the JC Penney space in Meyerland Plaza. Meanwhile, the WM Neighborhood Market on Hillcroft, between Meyerland and Maplewood, is undergoing upgrades. Looks nice so far. Probably already planned before Harvey but timely.
  11. Looks like HEB is really pushing hard for their new urban concept... this could be a large development (just my speculation). no mention of mixed use but it looks like their urban concepts are shooting for that where feasible and this would certainly be a feasible location. http://www.chron.com/business/real-estate/article/H-E-B-planning-Upper-Kirby-land-buy-11743119.php?ipid=ntk
  12. The first in a series of new posts I hope to do after visiting the downtown archives, I didn't get a chance to do as much as I wanted but I did find this interesting. This article describes a 15,000 square foot grocery store located at Mason and 290, with the space being mentioned as Fairfield Village. So, after doing some searching, I found it was at Fairfield Village drive off of Mason Road and not visible from the freeway (I remembered almost NOTHING being there), and sure enough a building from 1991 adjacent to Gambino's Pizza. While most searches for the building show the west view (with other tenants, including Prosperity Bank and Re/Max), I can't find anything on the front save for some information on Pet Supermarket moving in (the facade is largely altered). Despite not being able to get any information on Fairfield Market otherwise (H-E-B's "Fairfield Market" has really polluted Google searching to an impossible degree), the newspaper archives did provide help...the Chron mentions "the parking lot of former Fairfield Market" in December 2005, suggesting it has been out of business for a number of years now, probably explaining why I can't get any information (prior to 2005, any information on past businesses on the Internet gets really spotty really quick). However, the building facade as of September 2016 is entirely intact! suggests "Fairfield Market" though I can't Google it without getting H-E-B stuff. Beyond this article, does anyone have more information on this, such as when it closed and if you have memories to share?
  13. 21423 Aldine Westfield Road, Humble TX 53.98 acres sold by NewQuest to HEB This is a triangle shaped area intersects FM 1960/Treaschwig Rd/ Aldine-Westfield Road. http://www.newquest.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/53.98_Acres_FM_1960.pdf Currently the land is being cleared, but no signs or web info on the project. Very old farm buildings demo'ed plus old trees. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2016/05/25/heres-what-h-e-b-is-cookin-up-in-houston.html Article above details the sale, but I do not have access to a sub so I am not sure the details.. I read somewhere else there was no immediate plans to develop even though the land is being cleared.
  14. Will be a great addition for the neighborhood especially the medical center and UH!!!
  15. I figured I'd start a thread to see if anyone else had any information about this possible development. In some of New Quest's marketing diagrams for Brazos Town Center, they've shown a proposed HEB at the northeast corner of the Southwest Freeway and FM 762 - directly across the road from Brazos Town Center and next door to the Del Webb community. I know that I've heard from a few local residents about plans for a store there over the past few months, but not much else as of late. Anyone?
  16. There could possibly be a new HEB going up on the northeast corner of FM 2920 and Gosling road in Spring. There has been talks between HEB officials and Bridgestone Mud officials on the nearly 11 acre tract of land before the company purchases it. The main concern with the tract of land is the detention pond that takes up a good portion of it. HEB wants to minimize the size of the detention pond for the store's parking lot. There is no word yet on the size of the future store or it's amenities. There will be a gas station and car wash. I found this new location a bit odd being that the nearest HEB at FM 2920 and Spring Cypress is only 3 miles east of this tract of land. Another new location just opened last year at Kuykendahl and Creekside. A new store will also open at Boudreaux Rd. and Champion Forest Dr. next year. This Texas born grocery chain is definitely growing at a rather fast past.

  18. I searched for a thread in this but didn't see one. The realtor has for years put up all these signs saying it's back. To me, this is certainly a place for apts and GFR. Why, in this market is the shopping center dead except for Amy's Ice Cream and Freebirds? I would post a photo of it but don't know how yet.
  19. Hi everyone, I didn't see any topic about this so I will post it. So this is an HEB on San Felipe and Fountain view and on the south of this lot it's reserved for a 5 acre 400 room high end apartments. I will try to post pictures every week or two. 1. 20. HEB has land purchased for its 4th Cypress area location. The store will be built on the northwest corner of Spring Cypress and Grant Rd. The site is adjacent to a Cy Fair ISD elementary school. The store will be 99,000 square feet. The store will be a full functioning HEB, which means it will feature a pharmacy, gas station, full service bakery, deli, meat and fish market, beer and wine section and a healthy living department. No word yet on if the store will have a Café on the Run which is the HEB restaurant in some stores. Construction will start early 2014. HEB has its Cypress and Fairfield Markets off of 290 as well as the Jones and West store in the Cy Fair area.
  21. When did H-E-B open in Houston proper? The Fountainview H-E-B opened in 2001 according to Yelp and was the first one according to them, but on the bayou (Braes Bayou?) there's a tiny store that was almost certainly an H-E-B Pantry (facade similar), and it IS in Houston.
  22. I remember La Madeleine was suppose to go there long ago...
  23. There's been construction on the lot next to the HEB (over by where the vet's office is). Anybody know what is going up over there?
  24. The new HEB opens Wednesday August 31, 2011 at 6am. The new store is a prototype design for the company which means it's a test design. The store consist of 104,000 square feet, the largest of the now 4 HEBs in the Woodlands area. Key elements of the store include a larger Produce department, larger Healthy Living department, Cafe on the Run, overall better layout, Larger Central Checkout, 18 straight lined registers, and beautiful exterior. This layout and store format was also used on the new Sugarland store which opens in September.
  25. Has anyone been following the goings on @ Pearland City Council regarding proposed HEB @ Pearland Pkwy & 518? HEB goes before council tonight for the umpteenth time. Why does HEB need to scrap the PD in place and get a general business zoning designation? The exsisting PD allows for a grocery store at that site. Plan and simple, if HEB wants to build a store at that site today they could go forward immediately with permitting process. It seems that HEB wants to circumvent the rules the city has in place so they can do things "their" way. Pearland Planning and Zoning sent this project to City Council with a unamious vote of 5-0 to turn down this zone change stating that - PNZ has spent time and $ creating the PD so developers & retailers who come to this location adhere to certain guidelines, architecture controls, green space, setbacks.... We are not voting against HEB - we simply want them to play by the rules that are currently in place to ensure this last major undeveloped corner in the City of Pearland is developed in a manner that will serve the city for generations rather than a grocer on the hard corner in the short term.- So what happens if HEB buys the +/- 23 acres on the hard corner and does not build a store at that location. Or, if they buy the land and build a store in say 2, 5, 10 years down the road? The whole tract & the future increased ad valorem tax generation is at the mercy of HEB and their internal timeline - This is not in the best interest of the City of Pearland. This issue seems to be lost on those who have not delved more than skin deep on this issue. No one is saying we do not want HEB. To the contrary most all interaction @ City Council starts with the disclaimer "This is not a vote against HEB.... and then an ensuing argument of why the PD is in place and why it should remain in place" In fact that is correct. No one is voting "against" HEB. They are voting for City Council to enforce the current regulations that are in place to protect the best interest of the citizens of Pearland. I guess we will read about it tomorrow.
