Nancy on the move.
http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2012/01/goodbye-post-oak-health-club-hello-office-tower/
The 24 Hour Fitness at 1550 Post Oak Blvd. is closing permanently on January 27, according to a club employee who referred our inquiry to the corporate office. -
Are they all owned by the same person, but with the 3 or 4 nearby, they are actually more pricey than a grocery store.

The building rendering is very organic. If it ends up being built like that, and being isolated without any other building around it, it will look amazing with some good lighting.
-
It was a mistake to remove the residential and hotel portion.
I have gone there too, mostly for Barkitecture related events though.
-
This project is definitely back on, new sidewalk/fence banners, trailer, the works. If I can snap some photos and post, I will.
I was driving down the street from Highland Village and so some updated activity on Monday.
What a difference a couple of years makes in Houston.

Books-A-Million was paying $1900 for a huge space in Pavilions, and still wasn't making money. They said they were moving out and Pavilions cut them an even sweeter deal to stay. There's definitely no money for condos.
That big store is that cheap, can't be?!?!?
That's the price of a 3 bedroom apartment in some places.

As long as they don'y waste it by making it a strip center.
This has been a very good month for construction new for Houston, just putting it out there.
This should directly affect usership on HAIF.
-
If they make big wide walk-able sidewalks with tree lined parallel parking, that'd be perfect.
Any word on street level cafe/retail to add to the mix to create outside activity?
-
So much for the May groundbreaking. As of this evening, nothing new is happening on the site.
Still no activity as of yesterday (6/6/11).
Would be nice to see something happen.

That's terrible news. . . right by my neighborhood too.
Was hoping for houses or at least a nice apartment complex.
Crap Tastic.

Businesses go under for lots of reasons. Sometimes it's obvious, other times less so.
It's probably not worth speculating.
I guess every kiss does begin with K, and not S.
Another eye sore, they barely made it 2 years. Hopefully it does not get turned into a 24 Hour Smoke Shop like the old Luke's Burger's joint nearby.

apparently the "new" Drink Houston opened this month...I'm assuming across the way from where it used to be?! Never been...
Improv is next, then they can destroy the front of the building.
Don't see the benefit though.

There has been heavy demotion and digging for the last two months.
The for sale sign is gone, but there is no preview sign of what is to come.
Any HAIFer's have the insider scoop on what is going on such a great location?

Is there some random news of more floors being added?
I love that I am posting on my iPhone BTW. The mobile site is amazing from where it once was.

Well, you no longer have to worry about eating at the Pita Pit!
It's gone, some fish buffet is going in now.

I saw one or two new ones. The interactive map still shows Hanover for the res. tower but the hotel just says "luxury hotel." I'm sure the design will change along with the hotel company.
Well, they would not invest more on a website if the project was dead. So that's some positive thinking at least.
Maybe some fresh news is on the way.

From Gus and Urbannizer over at Swamplot.

Why does Domain at City Centre's website have downtown Atlanta in the background? http://domainatcitycentre.com/
Because we secretly wish we were just as cool at Atlanta.
Nice catch, looks like the website designer is clearly not from Houston and added a mistagged stock image.

I drove by on Thursday night because I thought I heard music and lo and behold... Live band! I was pleasantly shocked to see so many people strolling around and sitting on/around the lawn. Can't wait to see the crowds when the development is finished. I really am surprised at how well they're pulling this all off so far...
Sounds like it will fill out nicely during the holidays.

III Forks opens tonight.
Even with the "Barkitecture" event this past Saturday, it was nice and sunny, and yet, the place was still empty.
-
The old half built WAMU building was fenced up last week.
Could be something brewing.
-
But really, that facade is one of the worst I've ever seen. It seems almost spiteful towards the idea of street-level interaction. It's a shame too since the rest of the building looks good.
I totally dig the design.
The whole package is pretty unique.
It could have been worst, like the a stained urinal.
