The city committed to a "full redo" of Cullen to be completed by this September. This vote just happened like a week ago. Going to be interesting watching them try to get that done.

Does UofH still have a master plan to someday shut down Cullen to bridge the gap between the campus and the stadium? I thought they always had the idea to make a promenade down Cullen or something similar to it.

The cam for this is pretty far off from the site. 

There appears to finally be a little activity gathering on the site!  (Viewing from the 609 Main @ Texas webcam.)

I've seen vehicles come and go from the webcam last week. I won't get too excited until I see heavy machinery on site.

Soooo... Who here agrees that Jeremy Lin is absolutely awful and must go?

Just to play devil's advocate here: I think the original height for one of the buildings was 12 stories, and it would be a pretty simple for a map editor to accidentally type 21...

If this would in fact be true, would you think it would be possible to have 580 units in two 12 story buildings?

To me that seems highly unlikely, but two 21 story buildings, more likely.

It's begun

I was just at the ES site and the remaining parking lot space behind the hotel is very small. To hold hope that something other than a patch of grass or a flowerbed could be put in there is wishful thinking at best.

You must have not have seen the very limited amount of space Astoria is being built on or the proposed building on block 98   

They were setting up a big party tent on the lot this afternoon.  Workers are already on site doing some surveying.  I'm guessing we'll get the ceremony tomorrow as planned.  Glad to see this moving along.

Why are there no windows? Is it a data center?

I'm guessing so, I think they call it an electronic switching building.

I don't understand why this isn't even available in at least 720p. Seems a little a waste to present such a nice virtual video and only upload it to 360p 

And it's in the middle of nowhere. Doesn't synergize with anything.

Is the same to be said about 2727 Kirby since it is only 30 stories and further from either 610 or 59 than 2929 Weslayan? To me this is more noticeable than 2727 Kirby by far.

The time lapse of this in the next 2 years will be pretty impressive to watch

Is it just me, or could their 609 Main logo be more creative than that 

I hope there is some sort of creative measure I am missing because I'm sure they spent tons of money trying to decide the logo and walked away with the top of their building with lines connecting corners on it. Bravo guys... Bravo 

Yes, it is preliminary. But preliminary, conceptual designs should be aspirational. When they get developed, reality kicks in and takes the magic away. This one doesn't have any magic to begin with.

Yup... Reality didn't so much kick in for Embassy Suites, it slapped each and every one of us across the face
