  1. In San Antonio atleast in the parts where my family lives(Shirts and Universal City) you don't have to dial the area code. Although if you call them from here in Houston you need an area code.
  2. I disagree with some of your cousins statements. I live right off of Mason Rd. close to the Mortons in Bridge Water, and we may not be Cinco Ranch or the Taylor area, but we can still survive, it's not like were living in the ghetto over here. Also there are fights at all of the schools, I would say there are more fights at Mayde Creek than at Morton Ranch. Another thing, is unforunately kids from all schools could and do commit suicide; from Katy, Mayde Creek, Taylor, Cinco Ranch, and Morton Ranch. And lastly, its bad because "scary gothic" kids stand outside? I drive by that school everyday on my way to and from school and I don't see a lot of scary gothic kids standing around. Even if they did, thats what kids do, they stand and socialize be it a gothic kid, a kicker, or a thug type. Thats my view.
  3. I go to Mayde Creek HS and supposedly its the worst out of the Katy schools, but it isn't that horrible. I feel safe there, it's all about who you hang out with that depends on how your experience will be. Leave the bad kids alone and they'll leave you alone.
  4. I thought there was already a big glutenous of hotels, wouldn't this just worsen the problem? Also, about conventions, I though that we already didn't have enough of those at GRB? If not, should't we get a healthy amount there first?
  5. That is excellent news. I am glad that metro is now trying to get more TODs built, hopefully if it works out they will try to build more.
  6. Ahh finally I find out what this project was. I saw it fenced off while driving on the access road next to it. It really interested me because the tract I saw was so huge! Im glad something good is coming out of it rather than a huge box store.
  7. Now that i think about it, I don't think I have seen a rendering of them facing back to back. Guess it was just a fantasy of mine, hoping the other tower wouldn't show off it's drainage run-off wall either.
  8. We should have plenty shelters for them. And IMO I think we should forcifully get them help so that they aren't causing trouble(of course not in a way to hurt them.) I probably sound like a hypocrite for saying this, (but I still stand behind that the city should try its absolute hardest to get homeless off the street, atleast in downtown, off the streets) but getting the homeless off the street would be a difficult task.
  9. Although, just because it's not specific to Houston, doesn't mean its something we should still just shrug off and do nothing about. Less homeless people on the streets can make the city look alot friendlier and safer. Especially if we want families to move downtown. I don't think a parent would want their child walking past alleys full of homeless people (which may not all be in the best mental condition) and having to worry about some sick person hurting their kid.
  10. That would be cool if they stood back to back. Didn't the mercers stand back to back in an old rendering?
  11. Good news for Austin. Sounds like a big development, and an awesome one at that.
  12. That is awesome news! Now we have the TMC district booming and the Museum district booming. I can't wait for a few years down the line to see everything once it's well into progression.
  13. I guess they were dead because it was just winter. But they aren't dead year around. I don't know why it wasn't cleaned up though.
  14. ^understandable. But, it will come in time. Once we get a good foot in the door on the infill efforts, we can start focusing more on retail.
  15. Unfortunately it doesn't look to have any retail. but I guess on the east side there isnt enough foot traffic to constitute ground retail huh?
  16. atleast someone has their act together. Maybe this will motivate other developers as well. I can only hope. And then perhaps we'll see Shamrock go up in our life times.
  17. Ahh, okay, thought most looked sort of goofey, but some looked realistic. Glad it was a joke.
  18. Are those really some of the changes? if so, what a shame.
  19. That would be pretty neat if they did have a diagonal boulevard in Houston. I've always thought it would be awesome to have a Flatiron building in the city.
