  1. Anybody catch the Vince Young show in Nashville? Down 21-0 in the 4th qtr, FInal score 21-24, damn rookie show offs!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tied an NFL record for 4th qtr comebacks!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Well they definitely need some help on the line, but there are some serious execution issues. Kube made an interesting statement about Carr I thought was alarming. Kube said when he got there Carr had no clue how to prepare for a game, it's like he was coaching college instead of a professional. Now I understand that the Texans have have some coaching issues and general manager issues, but for a QB that has been in the league for several years and and not knowing how to properly prepare for a game. That's a little alarming. They are going to have to get some serious drafting done in numerous areas. Maybe some trading up in the rounds to get some key positions filled with hit the ground running players. Williams is still continuing to show improvement, that's a plus, he's going to have to live with being doubled every down, looks like until they get another dominant rusher, he's pretty much stuck with the double team. Some more aggressive blitzing would force them to quit keying on Williams. Oh well atleast they'll end up with a high pick in the draft.
  3. I'd like to see the Texans draft Jorvorskie Lane from TAMU. Talk about a truck load coming at you, I'd hate to have to try and open field tackle that monster. I think he would complement a fast tailback like Moose did Emmitt in their hey day, or like a Riggins. And the fact that he can catch a pass and muscle it up the middle is just a huge plus. It would then open up the passing game so the defenses aren't just teeing off on Carr. I think they also need some sort of great Center to anchor that OL.
  4. Here's you some more memories: 1970 Cowboys 52 Oilers 10 1974 Cowboys 10 Oilers 0 1982 Cowboys 37 Oilers 7 1985 Cowboys 17 Oilers 10 .................................W....L...T.....PF.......PA Overall vs. Dallas......5....7...0....210.....280 ------->(This includes them in Tenn. since you added it above) Just to put it all in perspective!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Actually Arlington Stadium did host the MLB All-star game ('95) and Reunion Arena has had the NBA All Star game ('86). Dallas hasn't hosted any Superbowl's but the do have five of the trophies that go along with it (VI, XII, XXVII-XXVIII, XXX). And have appeared in more Superbowl's than any team in the NFL history (V-VI, X, XII-XIII, XXVII-XXVIII, XXX) . And still have the stat of having the all time leading rusher in NFL history, (Emmit Smith). 1999 Dallas Stars Stanley Cup Champions 2007 NHL All Star Game Host Oops!!! Need any salt with that Nike.
  6. How you feeling now? Last week they beat the "unbeatable" colts and they are now beating the tar out of the Bucs. Tuna is feeling his oats today.
  7. Johnny Winter was one of the great musicians I listen to. It was Janis, Jimi, Jim, and Johnny. Johnny and Edgar grew up in Beaumont Texas and one of their first public performances as adolescents was on the "Don Mahoney and Jeanna Clare Show" With snow white hair and bouncy energy...Johnny TORE UP the songs "Good Morning Little School Girl" and "Johnny B. Goode". I remember it like it was yesterday, I would love to have tape of that show. Johnny is a really cool cat, have been friends with him for years, and I can guarantee he doesn't even have any tapes of that. I became acquainted with him back in the early 70's through a mutual friend that happened to have been his drummer for a couple years, Uncle John "Unc" Turner. Anyway Don Mahoney and Jeana Clare gave stage birth to one of R&R's greatest guitar legends. The story I was told that the Winters brothers won a local talent contest of some sort and got to appear on the "Don Mahoney and Jeanna Clare Show" as part of the 1st place prize. And I am certain if a person dug in the archives there are several more big stars that got their start on "Don Mahoney and Jeanna Clare Show". What a great piece of Texas History they are and a tribute to these two people who gave back more than they ever got, from an industry that is tough to make it in. This same industry that is very cut throat and at times ruthless, they are a breath of fresh air. Just a note, if any of you get up to Security TX (on 105 between Conroe and Cleveland) to the flea market they have there, there is a sweet little old lady there Named Mrs. Lake, Her and her husband Freddie Lake performed under the name, the lakes. They were good friends I think of Don Mahoney and Jeanna Clare. She has a neat little booth up there full of old photos and records from years and years ago. I think her first name is Gladys, but I am not sure, she's always been Mrs. Lake to me. Freddie died several years ago, but she's still around as far as I know. I haven't seen her in several months. People that are into the old days of the Ryman and the Grand Ole Opry, may be interested in Mrs. Lake.
  8. Investigators said if Weary had complied with the officers, he would have received a ticket and been on his way.
  9. Love that turn of the century shanty!
  10. Someone either has the worlds largest Zinc cotton bale or it was melted down.
  11. Actually Professional Soccer has been in Texas and the US since 1967! It is hardly in any sort of infancy. After the 1966 World Cup Final, two rival professional soccer leagues were formed in the United States. After one year, they combined to form the North American Soccer League which lasted from 1967/68 until 1984. The Dallas Tornado's were part of the NASL from 1967-1981 winning the league championship in 1971 over the Atlanta Chiefs. There was a two year lull in there until the Major Indoor Soccer League was started in 1982 and is still active today, Major League Soccer was formed and on June 6, 1995 and is still active today. So in 38 years they should have a better following, but you are more than likely seeing it's peak. I am not knocking the sport, it's just a fact that it has been around a long time in this country and just hasn't taken off as far as a fan base. Now when the sweet hearts of soccer were winning the world cup here in the US, you saw the peak numbers on soccer, but even when they started their own professional league, it folded fairly quickly. It takes more than flashing a Nike sports bra and a Playboy spread to build a steady fan base. Most High Schools have a soccer program but they are under funded and have very little following, college isn't much better. It's kinda like Lacrosse, hell of a sport but no one wants to sit and watch it. Soccer is pretty much forgotten about after adolescence in this country. In Texas it's Football, Basketball, Baseball in high school, everything else is just fluff to fill out an athletic dept. and considered secondary. Again not downing anything, just stating like it is. When the two teams play for the 5A State Championship in football this year they'll have 30,000 plus there I'd be willing to bet.
  12. Martin High School (Arlington, Texas) 612,000 sqft built in 1990 Martin is the largest High School in the AISD with 3,357 students enrolled as of December of 2005. It is also the largest High School in Texas under one roof. The Key Club at Martin, with 677 members as of April 30, 2006, is the largest local chapter in the world. It is rated by Texas Education Agency as an exemplary campus, ever since the 1997-1998 school year, the school has maintained an exemplary rating based on data from the TAAS testing and PIEMS report.
  13. Yeah I guess four back to back championships would be hard to remember!!!!!!!!!! 2000: Houston over New York 1999: Houston over New York 1998: Houston over Phoenix 1997: Houston over New York

  15. Now this I think needs a little clarification. Just what constitutes one life being less costly than another?
  16. You damn right I have issues, I have Issues that the FDIC only insures $100k per account holder and $250K on my IRA's. I think that is a hell of an issue. nmain I don't think I have ever attacked you personally, I read your views and agree with some and some I don't, but I have always respected them because you are a lot of thing but not a hypocrite, you stick to your guns. Let's not get personal on this, it's really not profitable for either of us. I just pointed out how the post appeared, didn't flame him or her, just made a point. I felt I had a valid point. If they were just "creeped out" just say I was creeped out. Instead it came to this: Now if they were to have said the blue highlighted section, hey I can see that. But the section in red gives the appearance of trying to search for authorities to rid the library of these people. I found that to be a little discriminatory and then it just snowballed from there. Now Nmain I am sure you have been the victim of discrimination in your life at one time or another. And I am sure you have witnessed bigotry up close and personal. So have I, and I will tell you one thing, it's not the white sheet wearing bastids or the swastika wearing skinheads that I worry about, it's the smile in your face closet cases that pretend to not be, or are just stupid enough to not know they are that worry me. Those are the ones you have to watch out for. The KKK, no worries, you know where they come from, and I laugh them all the way back to the trailer park they stumbled out of. But the sweetheart, that tells you they are pro-gay, pro-black, pro-whatever and then there actions or words or body language tells you something different, that the ones I try and question to see where they are really coming from. Those that do not know me take my bluntness and forwardness as having an issue, well so be it. But I don't hide behind false names, I don't hide behind false pretence. If a person wants to know me or talk just pick up the phone, me numbers are easy to find. Most anyone that has been on this forum already know that. Some people say I am stupid for being so open, but I look at it like this, I don't go around making enemies, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I will not let paranoia rule my life. If a person wants to get me they will get me, when my time is up I will be ready. I have lived a full life and had enough fun doing it for a hundred people, and I have brought no harm to anyone. Every now and again I find one that takes my kindness for weakness and I deal with that when the time comes. But I sleep good at night knowing I helped everyone I possibly could. If that makes me have issues, so be it. If I am wrong I am the first to stand up and say so, and will do it publicly. I am man enough for that. So please don't slap me around too much, I am frail and weak and have a low threshold of pain. By the way I am done with it nmain
  17. Gary it must be the weather, you know I am usually such a sweetheart! TJ is arguing with the wifey about where all her tinfoil keeps going!!!!
  18. My point exactly. And believe it or not, the majority of the Homeless are tax paying citizens. Statistically (53%) most of them are drawing a disability check and/or social security, it's not enough to live on if that's all you have. (That's a whole different argument) But they are taxed, neither are free income, so they have as much a right to "Public Facilities" as anyone else. Now it appears that them getting the free-bee plastic bags is an issue, I really don't know how to respond to that. Hey if it helps a homeless person be a little more "comfortable" so be it. Sounds to me like someone feels they just shouldn't be there. To that I ask "Why not?" Even rich people sometimes have to take their kids into a local vendor to use the restroom, with no intention of buying anything but some relief of a kids bladder. Sometimes even their own bladder. Did you ever think he didn't like the way you were looking at him? We'll have to ask 'isuredid' if he has these problems, I don't think all the people in this forum combined, spend more time in the library than he does.
  19. See this post http://www.houstonarchitecture.info/haif/i...st&p=123309 Well it's a log home, at least you won't have to by a bunch of the high priced gasoline!
