Hi guys,
Long time no post.
Over been driving past this for the past year and it seems like construction stopped several months ago.
Did they run out of money?

I'm curious about the adjacent parking lot. They recently improved it by cleaning it up, removing the flagpole, and actually adding more spaces there.
-
wasn't this the building that the original coney island restaurant was in?
-
You just have to remember. As distasteful as you may find some structures, they do serve a bit of a role in how Houston, a major transportation hub of commerce, operates.
What would make sense is to build a smaller viaduct to allow for pedestrian or bicycle traffic. It would be the cost and usage that would be the downfall of whether or not this project would be viable.

Here is the latest from the east line.

I agree, but having it run on standard rail, even on its own right of way will be totally pointless once it has to join the regular track near downtown.
-
DNA, and I suppose you're against paying school taxes if you don't have kids or they are already out of school.
anyway, this thing needs to be meglev with its own path into downtown.
-
according to the article, I think that they are planning on building on top of another structure.

I haven't found anything mentioning this, and I'm unsure if this is related to whatever activity is on the webster side.
I was talking to a couple of employees at that station and it seems like the owner purchased the entire plot the station was on and they are due to shut down in December.
anyone know what's going on with this block?

my problem is that if starts relying on regular track ROW for getting to downtown, it isn't going to happen. The rails are simply too crowned.

I haven't been following this too closely, but I'm assuming that this will be rail and not some sort of meglev system?
if that is the case, I think that trying to get this to downtown is a doomed effort.

I really hope there is a giant mat at the front door or elevators that says, "welcome back."

I guess the garage wasn't salvageable. They are knocking it down.

A garden immediately next to an active construction site sounds like a pretty poor place to enjoy a beer. Frank must be taking the long view on this one.
indeed, it could be a haifer hangout. I think it might be a great place after the construction is done.

I mean, You guys know that minute maid park is like... a few blocks away and it has... Stadium lighting.
yeah, pointed towards the INTERIOR of a stadium.
apparently, I'm screaming into the wind.
-
Those living nearby already have lights from the towers DT.
oh, yeah.
The big bright ones that illuminates the surrounding areas so bright you can see every blade of grass.
of course.

Yeah because it's suuuuuch a HUUUUUUUUUGGGGEEEEE hazard for the people driving down I-10...
The top golf on I 10 is NOT built above and NEXT to the freeway. it's a fairly good distance and the lights are far enough to not affect anyone driving.
-
And I have absolutely no connection with TopGolf or any high up officials to get something like this done. Point being? I dreamed up the idea. Sue me.
I think it would be an idiotic idea.
The glare from the lights would be a driving hazard for those on the freeway, and an annoyance to those living nearby.
-
Are you sure your proposal isn't being followed?
doubtful. There would have been a couple of sizable holes by now.

i proposed several years ago that we randomly hit it with a sledgehammer very once in awhile until it gets declared a hazard.

Okay. The East line finally rendered. turned out a bit better than the Southeast vid, but I think I might have to try to re-render it or possibly shoot it again. <sigh>

you were there when. I passed by during my metro video run.
I was hoping they would be finished when I drove by. It made me sad.

That might have been possible, but considering the circumstances in which it burned, which happened on a very windy day, along with no doors and windows wide open, it was just v a matter of bad luck.

Isn't that a 5 star hotel?
I believe it IS a hotel on the lower floors, but don't know about a five star. The upper floors are definitely office, but I can't remember if they were also going to be residences.
