  1. Good news. Great to see that downtown Houston hotels are starting to take off.
  2. YAWWWN. Discovery Green II. Very exciting but redundant. Still better than what its replacing.
  3. i hope this doesn't come off as a flame post, but i'm not really seeing what's so drastically different about this vs the old Houston Pavilions. But on the other hand, I don't even think i saw it when the renderings came out after this re-do was announced. Hope my observations turn out to be wrong.
  4. Stupid question.... Is this Mid Main project apart of the Superblock initiative from years ago?
  5. I liked Earthquest's theme better. I guess we have to take what we can get. Maybe this won't turn out to be so bad afterall.
  6. yeah i drove by there and was quite taken away by the letters. I thought to myself, " Look at Midtown Houston trying to get all sexy!" LOL
  7. Bank of america would be cool to be lit as well as the lights coming back for Wedge, but all the rest of the buildings with the beige/white christmas rooftops got to go. They used to have the skyline lit with Christmas lights year round sometime early to mid last decade. I'm glad that stopped because it was quite tacky to have christmas lights on top of state of the art office buildings year round. Lighting the skyline is something I've always thought Houston could take notes from Dallas on.
  8. Then it would feel like downtown/Uptown Dallas.... Contrived and sterile. I think new development is great but i don't want to lose that organic/integrated feel of downtown. Downtown already feels spotty, theater district on one side, then separated by a stretch of tired office buildings, then you finally reach discovery green. My point is, downtown lacks continuity which causes it to lack vibrancy. It's good to see this initiative which will tie other downtown destinations together.
  9. are the plans for the restaurant or mini retail still on for the site of the park? Anyway, this is going to take away from the uniqueness of discovery green. Just my opinion.
  10. All this wait for just a patch of grass. Ridiculous
  11. why do they keep pushing it back? That's a whole nother year from now. First it was supposed to break ground springtime this year, then they pushed it back to springtime 2014, now its to Fall/Winter 2014? Sheesh
  12. Ok. You could've just said this in the beginning.
  13. i hope if jumbotrons are in the plans, i hope its not like those boring- stillscreen ones that are on the outside of the Toyota Center.
  14. Uhhh? I know they're independent businesses. But i was assuming that the Wendy's closed because it wasn't keeping up with the current vision for that area. That whole area is changing and it seems that since Wendy's and McDonald's are the same type of businesses, i was wondering why both of them couldn't remain.
  15. What i don't understand is why they closed the Wendy's and their is a Mcdonald's right across the street. Seems like if Wendy's wasn't a fit then the McD's wouldn't be either?
  16. Last i heard, the Superblock Park was delayed construction until Spring 2014. But seeing Houston's history, that probably means delayed indefinitely. I'm suddenly reminded of Greenstreet downtown.
  17. I'm not happy to hear about losing any tenant in Midtown, especially a tenant that resided below apartments, which is something that Houston already struggles with. On a side note, The former Barcadia site hasn't filled its space yet either? Sad news for Midtown
  18. what is so special about this building's design. like someone said, it looks like a radiator. Not attractive or noteworthy. Update it please!
  19. Such a bland, tasteless, typical boxy Houston building. But still good news.
  20. I know i'm cynical, but i'm expecting this building to be in the same state it is now in 5 years. Much like the ambitious poster board on the side of the wall.
