  1. Im confused. Is this site going to be home to the tower rendered in the previous page, another tower, or something else?
  2. I think the main tourist area of the Riverwalk downtown is outdated as well, but there is a synergy that extends outside of the immediate downtown core that I personally find very attractive. What, if any, city would you like Htown to move towards or take inspiration from?
  3. Agh it hurts to look at that rendering. It's so nice. I think had it been built it would've been the hottest place to be in Houston. It reminds me of the Pearl Brewery in San Antonio. I know Houston is forging its own identity, but I wish we had a more downtown SA feel. SA has such a natural and interesting downtown/central area
  4. Exactly! It really does help connect people to their city.
  5. Scooters are a pain in the ass, but one positive aspect is that they encourage people to be on the streets and to engage more with their city. In Austin, and in Corpus Christi, I've noticed so many more people exploring the city-scape and all of it's hidden streets and buildings. That is something I've always wanted in Houston. I think one of the larger challenges that Lime, Bird etc. will face in Houston is vandalization/theft of their scooters.
  6. Living in central Austin, with my heart in Houston, I so desperately want to see a bigger version of graffiti park in Houston. Seeing this building makes me dream of it
  7. ^ I hope it doesn’t get built. Houston’s W should at least look a little bit interesting
  8. Looking from that angle I cannot wait until the strip mall on Post Oak is gone. I want to see all of PO lined with skyscrapers
  9. If anything, I feel like 2019-2021 will be an exceptional time for Houston office and residential construction. I have no concrete reason to believe this, but I just have a feeling that a supertall could be in the works. Maybe I’m too optimistic, but the near and long term future of Houston is very bright from downtown, midtown, med center and everything beyond. I’d put the next supertall in the Galleria, hopefully a mixed use beauty with a spire.
  10. There is a rooftop soccer field that I see almost anytime Tokyo is featured in a movie and seeing that Houston might be getting one is a childhood dream come true
  11. I don’t understand why they didn’t paint it a dark grey/blue to match the windows closer. There wouldn’t be such an obnoxious color difference with the glass and with the wall.
  12. I’m a big fan of this tower, even after losing the all glass design, but I think painting it a darker grey/blue to better match the glass would be a smart move on RD’s part.
  13. I hope they’re considering a large expansion as they continue to cut routes from IAH to Mexico (Huatulco, Villahermosa, Mazatlan) according to wiki. I wonder if there will be an influx of business and flight routes as oil continue to creep towards $100 a barrel.
  14. I’m a bit lost. Are there any plans for these three lots or are they just clearing it out for now?
  15. That is the type of architecture I want to start seeing in Houston! More daring and visually striking would bring a lot of attention to the city.
  16. According to wikipedia Korean Airlines will be ending service to Seoul October 13th. Is this true? It's the first I hear of it and seems very sudden.
  17. Lets hope that a “high level of integration with local transit systems” means that it will be connected to the light rail and thus connected to downtown.
  18. I would love for a sort of West Campus feel to the area around the rail stops next to UH. It would definitely spur a lot of development like retail, residential, hotel, etc. It'd also give UH a more college experience for its students which would make the school grow and be more attractive. Win win
  19. I'd say renovate it and turn it into affordable living. Convert it from an eyesore to just another building and add some residents at the same time.
  20. Are there any plans to bury the power lines around the city? In every photo I see of Houston there are always power lines. I guess it's not on the top of the priority list, but I think it'd be a giant step in the right direction in terms of beautification.
