I have no doubt that if the ANICO building were proposed today there would be no way in hell that thing would get a pass downtown (take the Moody's out of the equation). I don't understand why we can't let what's historic continue to be "historic" and allow the seawall to take on contemporary designs at the same time. How does the argument "it doesn't fit Galveston" even fly on the seawall, esp when you have the San Luis down the street from the Galvez. Where were these protesters when Wal-Mart and Goodwill decided to build on the seawall?
