Houston Replaces Boston

Houston replaces Boston as Israel re-opens office

The Israeli Consulate in Houston has reactivated an office of economic affairs that has been closed for about a decade.

The new consul for economic affairs here is Joseph Abraham, who was brought in from Boston.

"It's a strategic relocation of the office from Boston," says Abraham.

Houston replaces Boston as Israel's fourth U.S. consular office, along with New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago.

The goal of the resurrected Houston office is expanded investment between U.S. and Israel by helping Israeli companies locate investors, secure research and development funding, and create partnerships with American companies.

Abraham's efforts won't be confined to Houston. His office is responsible for economic development throughout Texas and bordering states.

"We will be looking at Dallas, Austin, and any place we feel we could assist Israeli companies to tap into this market," he says.
