Parrothead
Key West has scooter rental places all over. You don't need any other license other than your driver's license, yet Florida law states you have to have a class E license (moped) in order to operate one. How do the scooter rental places get past that law, and why does Galveston not have a scooter rental place? Anyone know?
RedScare
Funny you should ask. I actually did a business plan for moped rentals in Galveston, a couple of years back. (I was REALLY getting tired of the law business.) Turns out that Texas has a moped license requirement, too. I figured that until that silly rule was done away with, insurance would never cover the mopeds. However, I never looked into Florida, so I never knew that they had the same stupid license requirement. Maybe, I need to look into this again. Discounts for HAIF members!
