mrfootball Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 I don't think this accurately reflects the population increase due to Katrina/Rita. Quote
Dominax Posted April 14, 2006 Author Posted April 14, 2006 I don't think this accurately reflects the population increase due to Katrina/Rita. Im not sure but It maybe or... but emporis updated USA city populations more several times than the cities throughout the world. New Orleans hasn't been reupdated yet! But it was updated in last feburary of a decrease of 30,000 residents. Which back in 1995 it was at 500,000 residental now 450,000 today. Quote
Houston19514 Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 (edited) The numbers posted on Emporis are US Census Bureau numbers. The dates Dominax posted for the various numbers are incorrect. The numbers posted as "July 2004" numbers are actually July 1, 2003 US Census estimates. The numbers posted as "July 2005" are actually the July 1, 2004 Census estimates. And the numbers posted as "April 2006" are the July 1, 2005 estimates. As such, the latest estimates do not include any additions due to Katrina/Rita. Those will not be reflected until the July 1, 2006 estimates, the numbers for which will probably be released in March 2007 or so. Edited April 26, 2006 by Houston19514 Quote
Guest Plastic Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 On this infomercial they say Texas will be the 2nd largest state in 2025. That's wring cause e were taught Texas was the 2nd largest by size and population. California,Texas, then New York. They're tryin to tell us we're the 3rd largest. Quote
editor Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Populations came from the site of emporis.comA good effort, but Emporis is notorious for having its facts wrong. It's "field editors" are no more in the know than anyone on HAIF or any other web site.As far as I'm concerned, unless it's Census.gov, it's speculation. Quote

Isn't it around 150,000??? Quote
The Great Hizzy! Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 ^^^ That's the closest estimate the COH "unofficially" gives. From what I understand, they use data from apartment complexes participating in the "voucher program" along with FEMA documentation.I'll be interested to see what the Census Bureau's July 2006 estimate looks like and if they'll include an estimate of Katrina/Rita evacuees.
