Recommended Posts

October 8, 1911: It was erected in 1901 by John H. Kirby, President of the Kirby Lumber Company, for the use of the Christian Sciences worshipers, and since that time until now has been their regular house of religious services in Houston.

April 15, 1900:
Dedication of New Church
The First Church of Christ, Scientist, located on the corner of McKinney Avenue and Travis Streets, is now completed and will be dedicated at 11 o'clock. The church is handsome one and the membership is justly proud of it.

A map from 1907 showing both the Jesse H. Jones Lumber Company and the catty cornering church.
