During the late 40's and I think mid to late 50's, there was a 4 or 6 lane bowling alley located on the corner of Travis and Prarie. There's a place called 'Cabo' located there now (according to Google maps). On the Prairie Street side, there was a walk up window where you could order hamburgers five for a buck. My mom worked across the street at a place called Columbia Dry Goods (which now it looks like it's been turned into a parking garage).
