So the new mural is at the location I suspected, facing Fannin St. on the newly purchased building by Harris County. I talked with a woman overseeing all the murals and she said they are doing 8-9 more this time.

She also mentioned that some of the murals are interactive/immersive using the "Behind The Wall" app (Available for both iOS and Android phones). She pointed to the mural catty corner to this one as being one of them.

The artist for this mural is from UK.

It looks a lot like local mural artist Micheal C. Rodriguez style although I haven't seen him posting any new one lately.

I stopped by to check it out a few minutes. Pretty cool.

But I also noticed ropes on the big blank south-facing wall above this. I wonder if there are plans for that a mural wall? It seems to me to be screaming for it.

The artist of this mural D_Face, the guy on the right. He said he got an early start because he has another project coming up next but said all the other mural artist should be starting next week for the rest of the 8-9 murals.

I found 5 new locations where new murals will be going up in downtown.

1. Jury Duty parking garage at 1401 Congress. Couldn't find parking so I don't know the artist.

2. 1111 Main St. parking garage, the building Harris County recently purchased. It already has two murals on it.

3. Houston Ballet building 601 Preston St. I met this artist, bimbo.  Said he was prepping the wall for his art.

He said he recently did this mural.

4. & 5. On the Holiday Inn at 1616 Main St. Two separate murals one on the back of the attached parking garage and one on the back side of the hotel.

JDL is doing the mural on the parking garage. She is Dutch. She does incredible art, anxious to see it.

There was no artist here but you could see work had started.

While I was taking these pics I saw Dragon76art, he wasn't doing this one but bimbo told me he will be doing a mural. He did the huge "Hunger" mural on the back side of the Hampton Inn a couple years ago.

gonzo247 on the Holiday Inn building. Heavy rain all day Thursday got the heavy man lift stuck in the mud. They had little mats under it but those mats are intended for very light equipment not this heavy high reach man lift. Gonzo said Dragon76art is doing his mural at the Shell soccer stadium.

This one is being done by MrD1987 and a friend.

The mural that https://www.instagram.com/gonzo247/ was doing seems to be on hold. The big man lift is gone. My guess is that they didn't get the right size mats for it. The ones they had were for something the weight of a pick up truck.

These are the type mats they need. I dispersed these all the times in the refinery I worked at in preparation of putting heavy equipment on them.

They had an official presentation and walk for the murals, unfortunately I couldn't hang around for it. Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis was going to be one of the speaker. They set up on Main St. across from the Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf murals.

I organized a 3.5 mile walk from Graffiti Park to Post zigzagging through downtown Houston with locals and out of towners this past weekend.  It was fun seeing all the murals.  I wouldn't do it during summer though ..   This is the general route we took.  KmDySLj.jpeg

I did something similar with my students back in the fall. For an almost-free field trip, it was pretty awesome. Looking forward to doing it again next year, if public education still exists.
