VicMan
If Houston ISD wanted to make a new magnet school, should they consider Downtown?Downtown does not have any public schools at the moment; children who live in Downtown (and there aren't many of them either) go to schools in surrounding neighborhoods. What if HISD built a K-5 or K-8 magnet in Downtown that could also function as a neighborhood school for the few who live in Downtown (since Downtown is bordered by freeways)? Also, I think HISD should change high school zoning. Currently Downtown kids are assigned to either Davis or Reagan. The zoning should be changed so it is a "special" zoning area and Downtown kids can choose between six high schools:* Austin* Davis* Lamar* Reagan* Wheatley* YatesThey are about the same distance away from Downtown. KinkaidAlum
Didn't HISD just announce a new magnet school called the International School or something like that? If I remember correctly, it's going to be located in the midtown/museum district area.

WesternGulf
Didn't downtown use to have an elementary school? I think it started with an R.
VicMan
I e-mailed HISD the question on the last Downtown elementary school. I'm hoping to get a timely response
