MidtownCoog
Texas Mayors Set Bowl Ticket Challenge Fort Worth & Houston Host Each Other's Universities Dec. 15, 2005Fort Worth, Texas - The "Lone Star Mayor's Challenge" has been set between Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief and Houston Mayor Bill White. Will more Houstonians attend the Fort Worth Bowl at TCU's 44,008-seat Amon Carter Stadium or will more Fort Worth residents attend the EV1.net Houston Bowl at the 69,500-seat Reliant Stadium? This idea was sparked by Texas State Senator Kim Brimer, a Board member of the Fort Worth Bowl and an ex-University of Houston football player. Mayor Moncrief and Mayor White have agreed to participate and hope that their citizens will join them in supporting their home teams. "Both mayors endorse the challenge to promote the two bowl games and create a buzz surrounding each event," said Fort Worth Bowl Executive Director Tom Starr. "Both mayors are big-time college football fans and they are interested in promoting this oddity of having universities from each other's city playing in their respective cities." http://uhcougars.collegesports.com/sports/.../121505aaa.html
