DJ V Lawrence
Why haven't a developer try to uplift the Old Chinatown? Build more condo towers, or a mixed-use entertainment site? I think the Old Chinatown would be a A+ to downtown's tourist. The developments in Southwest Houston are far more advanced than the old Chinatown. Only reason why the downtown location is still called Chinatown is that the Southwest Houston location isn't even an official Chinatown. In fact, if they tried to redevelop the old Chinatown location into something else without officially naming the Southwest location Chinatown first, expect a stir. If something else is developed in the old Chinatown location, like a stadium or mall or something, I think you're 100% right that it could be a tourist location to coinside with Downtown. Imagine a project like this... ...at the old Chinatown location, with the MLS stadium, and major residential developments within. (wishful thinking)

Yeah if that were to pop up in that area, wow that would fill a major void in Downtown

Thank Dominax's Las Vegas thread. Imagine that major street instead being 59, with MMP and George R. Brown on the other side. Have the soccer stadium right there parallel from MMP. Surround the stadium with luxury high rises, but instead of building luxury around the stadium, build the area with the residential and retail properties being the priority and have the stadium coinside with the architectural designs. desirous
That would look great. They should sink the Eastex into a trench and put arch bridges over all 16(?) streets.
snoopy123
Has anyone noticed the plants being planted in the median of Bellaire Blvd. in Chinatown? The beautification process has begun.
