Sunstar
I also heard on the news that there will be a separate Houston fund set up by the former presidents to help with the relief effort. Jim MacInvale started the fund off with a donation of $300,000.
RedScare
That's interesting. Channel 13 reported 30,400 total evacuees in the 4 shelters. The discrepancy is the Dome figure. They said it was 23,000. That sounds high compared to everything else I've seen.
RedScare
editor, I think your press release is more accurate than Channel 13. It appears Ch. 13 added Reliant Arena & Center into the Dome totals, and then added them in again.
editor
I think we can safely use the following totals for the next couple of weeks:. Dome City now with a crapload of residents. Center City now with a buttload residents. Arena City now with truckload of residents. George R. Brown City now with a heckofalotta residents
RedScare
The Chrinicle reports 7,188 residents at the Reliant Park shelters, and an additional 1,400 at the GRB. The Red Cross is signing up people to receive its debit cards, not to be confused with FEMA debit cards. The Red Cross cards will be distributed, beginning Friday. At this rate, they will probably have Reliant Park shut down by next weekend, when the Texans play their home opener. This will deprive the tailgaters the opportunity to shower the evacuees with brisket, ribs and beer, which would have really made them all want to stay in Texas. Obviously, they will require you to be a victim of the storm. The amount given depends on need and size of family. As to where the other thousands of evacuees went, my suspicion is that they have carjacked SUVs and driven them to suburban schools and malls, where they will rob and rape the conservative white women...and of course, the children. Seriously, some have been transported to meet other family members, some are staying with family in Houston, some have gone back to Louisiana to assess damage, and many have already been placed in apartments and houses. Those that received aid in New Orleans received it here.

RedScare
Latest shelter totals show the Houston Astrodome is EMPTY. The Houston/Harris County shelters have 3,183 residents. The plan is to have Reliant Center empty by this weekend as well. Only the Reliant Arena and GRB will house evacuees, to save money and time on operations.http://www.hcjic.org/They still hope to have all evacuees in semi-permanent housing by early next week.
