MayHouston
Hello, i have a 16' utility easement (comes to the middle of my backyard). It has a sewer line in it. Thinking of building a pool in the future but would most likely need to move the sewer line so we have more space and the pool is not right against the house. Is that doable? Has anyone done this? Where do I go for permission to move the easement/sewer line? Any info would be most useful! Thank you.
Ross
if you live in the City of Houston, call the City. If you live in the County, and have an MUD, talk to them.
MarkG
I have never heard of moving a utility easement. I could be wrong, but I doubt very much that it is possible. If the easement is "of record" on your deed it becomes a condition that "runs with the title". The City would have no incentive to want to allow you to "remove" it. If they ever needed to dig up the sewer line, they would want the easement.
